"This is unjust! The Earth Ponies are just as important as us Unicorns and Pegasi!" Severin yelled out in anger, responding to a slaver mistreating the slaves. "Sir, if ya don't back off right now, I'm gonna have-ta call the authorities." Said the slaver in a thick country accent. "Go ahead! See if I care! I don't care what punishment they give me! It's worth it to free these poor, malnourished, mistreated ponies!" He yelled. He had been jailed several times for outbursts just like this. But he wasn't getting locked up again. He had a plan this time.
Narrowleaf screamed out in pain as a pegasus whipped him in the back of his head. "P-Please...?!!" He whimpered, dropping his chain.
Soon, a police officer came after Severin. He didn't put up a fight. Instead, he waited for the officer to cuff him, then followed as he was escorted to the prison. As they walked up a hill, Severin saw his chance. At the top of the hill, he made a knot in the grass with his magic, causing the officer to trip, and roll down the rather steep incline. He chuckled a bit, and broke the cuffs with a small spark from his horn. "Well, I might be charged for assaulting an officer, but, I can get away now." He thought to himself before running off.
Blackout was awakened by shouting downstairs. His father was yelling furiously at a mare who's voice he had never heard before. "Quit whining, Dirt Pony! You are to be a gift for my son, and you WILL behave." "Please, sir! I must stay with my husband! I'll die without him!" "I said SHUT UP!" Blackout pulled his pillow over his ears. His eighteenth birthday was off to a poor start.
Narrowleaf screamed again as he was whipped. "No!! I'm not leaving!" He said, pulling on his chain. (I'm gonna be doin' this until somebody claims me)
Severin walked back to a small cabin on the edge of town. The local newspaper was lying on his doormat. He was not surprised about the contents. It was all about slave auctions, and how known abolitionists will be arrested. He let out a heavy sigh and opened the door. He threw the paper into the fireplace and walked into the kitchen. While making himself a sandwich, he looked out the window and noticed a earth pony being whipped by a pegasus slaver. He immediately stopped what he was doing and ran out his door. "Hey! One more crack of that whip and you'll be sorry!" Severin in a fierce tone towards the slaver before looking at Narrowleaf sympathetically.
The slaver chuckled. He cracked the whip, then whipped Narrowleaf. "Aargh!! M-Make it s-stop..." He groaned.
"I warned you." Severin said, before stopping the whip with his magic. "Next time I won't be so nice." He said, yanking the whip out of the Slaver's hoofs and then setting it ablaze. He then walked up to Narrowleaf, "You alright? Hungry? Need a place to stay?"
"I... I was j-just purchased. I really, really, really d-don't want t-to go..." Narrowleaf mumbled, rattled by the situation.
"I see. Well, you must be famished after this, come in, I'll patch up those wounds from the whip and get you something to eat. Then I can help you with whatever you need." Severin offered politely, pointing the way to his home.
The door to Blackout's bedroom opened, and his father walked in, leading a terrified looking Earth Pony mare. "Happy birthday, son! I've brought you a gift! Dirt pony, say hello to my son." Heart Song stifled a sob. "Hello, M...Master. My name is Heart Song."
"B-But s-sir... I've j-just been purchased. Unless you can out-pay them, I'm g-going with them." Narrowleaf explained. "They payed 666 bits for me. Dunno if you c-can..."
"666? That's not so bad. You see, my wallet's a bit heavy from running an abolitionist newspaper, sells well." Severin then walks over to the slaver. "I'll pay you 700 bits to take that Earth Pony for you."
"Take it." The stallion said, grabbing the bits out of Severin's hoof and handing him Narrowleaf. "It has a rebellious streak. Have fun and good luck with you new dirt horse."
Severin grinned slightly and walked back to Narrowleaf. "Congrats, you're a free pony now - er... I didn't catch your name there, could you tell me it?"
"N-Name's Narrowleaf, m-master..." Narrowleaf responded, nervously. "You can just call me "Dirt Horse". I won't mind. Everypony does."
"No need to call me master. Seeing as you're my equal now, you may call me Severin. Now, come on in to my cabin over there," Severin said, pointing to his home. "I'll get you some food and whatever else you need." (This is my last post for the night.)
Blackout was not happy. "Father! You know how I feel about slavery! Why have you..." His father spoke over him. "Yes, you little foal, I know how you feel about the Dirt Ponies. You're an adult now, and more importantly, you are MY son. The time for games is over. You will live by my rules, or you will be disowned. How long do you think you could survive without your weekly allowance?" He grinned wickedly. "Besides, this Dirt Pony was purchased in YOUR name. What will your abolitionist friends say when they find out?"
"I''m fine, master." Narrowleaf said, smiling. "I do not require assistance. I'm supposed to serve you."
