I fully support that response because it once again draws the line between me being a fan and being a brony-I got a good big smile, but it ultimately didn't distract from what was going on in the episode and ended up just getting more love for the mane six.
Originally an animation mistake in the pilot episode. *season 1* Somewhere in the crowd at Twilight's Surprise Party, the derp-eyed pony is stood there, someone spotted her and the craze was born.
The face that started it all. And out of that simple animation error, a canonical character was born. It really makes me proud to be part of such a passionate community.
Oh yes... I'm still looking for my left ear. The animators shouldn't be allowed to freak us out like that. :/
Everypony loves Derpy and the minute they said her name as Derpy and talked as well. My mind was like that in the flash video. :3
Haha, I literally started screaming at the top of my lungs the second I heard "Derpy", the rest of the episode is just a blur. Poor Applejack, I love you..., but DERPY!!!
I was in stitches at the first line from Rainbow Dash and the subsequent zoom out. Also, Derpy makes jumping on, and being electrocuted by, a cloud seem really fun. Her goofy and happy stance she takes on after being shocked is awesome.
When I watched that part of the episode, and Derpy was named, I screamed " WHAT? Oh my gosh! YES! YES! Oh my gosh! WHAT? YES!" and my mother looked at me like I should be locked up in an asylum.
Haha, that's exactly how it went for me. I started flipping out, and my mom was like "Oh my God why are you screaming?!" My response, "Derpy."
I cheated a bit - I saw the Derpy Speaks part on a separate video before I watched the episode, so I was actually able to sit back and enjoy the episode itself. As for my reaction, well, since it was labeled and such, I didn't freak out like most bronies. I just grinned from ear to ear. My wife saw me watching that clip, and yelled, "Hey! You're not watching the episode without me, are you?!" Of course not, my dear, of course not!
OH GOD WHAT HOW DID I MISS THIS EPISODE *later* I've never been that much of a Derpy person, but I'm pretty sure this is still exactly what happened for me. BV
