So it wasn't that long ago that I thought I was the only brony in my city. Which is the smallest capital city in my Country. Perth Western Australia. But I have heard rumour that it is actually the most brony city in Australia because I can rarely go into public in my Fluttershy shirt without hearing some kind of MLP reference. First of all a good friend from my past decided to visit my city since we had separated by several hundred kilometers since finishing school and I put on my shirt and went for a trip into the city. I wanted to introduce him to a new store he would like. When we got there someone recognised my shirt and gave me a brohoof and I got his email so I could invite him to a local brony facebook group. Then we went into some random small coffee store and the woman behind the counter saw my shirt and said "Rarity is best pony" and I of course said that, that was a strange way to say Fluttershy. My friend was obviously surprised that my MLP love prove to have a surprising amount of people reacting to it. So he asked me to show him a few episodes so he could see what the big deal was. I showed him 1,2 and 4. But he was kinda meh about the whole thing but he laughed a few time. Anyway I have told that story before, but just 2 weeks ago and then today a few more encounters happened. I was at school and we were in the TV studio and I was the audio mixer for the day and since I was inexperienced we had a student from another class volunteer to help me learn. He saw my shirt and said cool. I asked if he recognised what it was from. He said "An online meme, not sure what it was called". "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" I said. He just seemed amused but not judgemental about it and we continued working together like buddies. Then a few days later, we had a relief teacher for our editing class. I had all my work done, so I asked him to be excused to do other work. He replied "Only if Fluttershy is okay with that", Then today I decided to do something I haven't done for 6 months. Go to a Friday Magic: The gathering game. First of all a guy playing at the table next to me said "So was there one of those brony meetups today?" "No" I said. Then a random girl walked up to me and said "Hey awesome shirt". Then while I was playing a game from one of the other tables. (there was probably 20 people in the room) I heard the famous quote "FOOOOOREVER!" So yeah. It seems like my city is saturated in the My Little Pony meme, it seems like I can't go into public without people either being bronies, or recognising bronies. Anyone else get this or is MLP still a quiet meme in your area?
I have my co-workers bring it up when I wear my shirts, but the general public just doesn't seem to care. Over the last 2 months, one person I didn't know said nice shirt. So yeah, in Maryland nobody seems to care, well at least in Westminster that is.
Why can't this happen around my town/region/area! I do have fellow bronies in Florida and in the Central part of Florida, but not like every store or nothing... Your so lucky Setzer, lets trade places! I want some more bronies! :derpe:
To give you an idea, here's a picture of the last meetup I attended. Since this there was also a Toy raid with about 10 people. View attachment 1682 I'm the guy on the far left in the 'Best Pony's' shirt.
Oh how I wish this was true for me. You get set upon round my town for liking anything remotely different! The only other brony I know of blocked me on Steam when I added him so that was a bummer. Maybe when I do finally get a tshirt and wear it in public I'll find some more. :derpe:
For some strange reason bronies in my city, myself included are crazy. When we meetup and go into the city. We sing pony songs in public, some of us shout ponies to random people in public and we put pony fliers in random places. I think because so many of us are so ballsy about spreading ponies, it has become common knowledge especially amount those who see us in the mane city centre. Since I also go to school in the mane city centre wearing Fluttershy, the word has really spread. Although I live in a very tolerant country, so such a thing may not be possible in your area. We may seem brave, but nothing bad has happened to us yet. Here's the Toy raid, those two girls not looking at the camera were with us too
I have many bronies over here, but they are scattered around me... Well... I need to find them once again...
I know 3 bronies in my area. I found out they were bronies when I un-stabled. I really wish i could meet more bronies in my area though (even if i am completely socially dumb, lol). Setzer... I jelly.
I don't know many bronies in my area. I do know that every other person in my area knows of the fandom though.
None of my friends would be familiar with it even if I mentioned it, they've never even used aq forum before, and probably don't even know what a meme is. You couldn't find a bunch of teenagers who are less internet savvy if you tried.
As far as I know, my wife and I are the only bronies, although the cashier at the local 7-11 seems to know of them at least. And since getting my RD shirt, I've noticed lots of people wearing other cartoon shirts - Ren & Stimpy, Thundercats, Transformers, and Sponge Bob. Setzer, I'm moving to Perth. Sounds way cooler than Reno.
my town has no bronies... literally! i made an anonymous post around my school (which is the largest school in my village) and i only had hate comments, and 1 meh comment asking why my little pony is so serious to some people. my town knows about the fandom, they just really hate it.
Well, let me put it this way: Every Brony that I know of in my area, is a conversion of my doing. So far, everyone else that isn't a brony, and knows about it without me telling them about it, hates it. Then again, I have only just started looking. I know the best way would be to buy a shirt, wear it, and wait for results, but like I've raised in other threads, I don't like people to know.
I dont really know any. One guy only got the 20% cooler shirt cause it made people mad because it has a rainbow on it. Im a loner here so far.
hmm are you saying you live in Perth Western Australia? Cause if you do I could invite you to our local brony facebook group. It has 127 members.
