You know what the hardest thing to do around my house is? Keep a secret. I've been a brony for about a year now, and I'm always stressed that my parents will find out. I hate that I have to hide it, but they're as square as a sugarcube, they'd never understand. Anypony else have that problem?

Actually I had that problem when I first became a brony, but I've learnt later that the show is a lot more important to me than the things people say, so I just let any comments slide, be they from friends or Family.

The best thing I suggest you do is tell them, but casually suggest it because then it makes it sound like it's normal (Which it is) Because then you won't constantly have the fear of them finding out and the stress of having to hide it.
And just to ignore any and all negative comments.

I totally agree with this, my family, I am pretty sure is well aware of the fact that I am a brony. I am incredibly public about it, they do call me gay, and other such things for liking the show, but I just let it slide off like butter.

Being a brony isn't something to be ashamed of, it's totally normal to love a show in all it's glory. Pony Pride World Wide!

Although I'm not a bronie my girlfriend was a little weirded out when she found out I signed up here. I wasn't really keeping it a secret though.

I don't tell them, but I don't hide it either. I don't announce to them all my other likes, why should I for this one? Besides, they wouldn't get it. These are people who STILL think you can pause online games. I've told them you can't since I was eight. :sigh:

Unless your family and friends are extremists of some kind, just come forward with it. :derpe:

well, I never had problems because I brony.
However, I have to say I did have some advantages when I became brony that was easier for me to "come out".
Everyone knew, before I was brony that I like cartoons and watch them on daily bases, so me finding out about some new cartoon isn't really a news anymore.
Also, first person I recruited into the herd was my sister. She likes most of same stuff I like, so I knew she'd like it, so basically, we told to our parents together, and and it was basically show that we both liked, and watched together (even dough, before telling my sister about mlp:fim, I watched all season 1 once (and then with her 2nd time(there was no season 2 at the time))). We even got our dad to watch with us, so after that, he watched new episodes every saturday on livesteram (when season 2 started). I even got rainbow dash cutie mark sticked to his car (that I also drive).

so, um, ^ wasn't really helpful... um, my advice is that you just don't hide it. no need to tell them, but if they find out, be calm, and act as it's normal thing (which it is). If you act as it's something you need to hide, they'll think it's something bad, but if you react as it's something normal, then they will thing it's normal as well.
