I felt the need to bring this over to the EPR forums. It comes off as a sad thread, but the guy has gotten tons of support and even someone willing to send him supplies.

I absolutely support this guy and hope his parents L2Pony. The whole stereotype is ridiculous by any stretch and I hope this guy gets his home back. Send him support; I don't usually follow Reddit so I found this off of EQD.

Edit: Title is slightly misleading. Should be: "Kicked out of his home".

Really? For liking a show. Yeah those parents seem like the nice understanding kind. Over a show. I see no reason for any parent to treat their own kid that way.

    Parents.

They can be both the most understanding and most thick headed individuals on this planet.
They often expect you to live up to their expectations rather be who you truly wish to be,
and it's often extremely hard to persuade them that your opinion is more correct than theirs'.
Frankly, there is little you can do to change this.
Not to say that all parents act a such, but I've seen similar things happen to others before,
though I must remark, this is the first time I've seen such a situation arise because of ponies.
It is rather inevitable that you will have disagreements with your elders, that's part of the
teen's brains develop. They start out with multitudes characteristics that are phased out
    with time and age.
Unfortunately, most adults don't know of this, being a recently established tidbit of information.
Furthermore, parents are typically less understanding of our need for social interaction
and of some of our more odd likings and preferences. This is something that comes with
age, because the adult mind produces less of a chemical called oxytocin.
(Oxytocin is a chemical that causes enjoyment from social interaction with others.)
I do hope that this is an isolated incident.
Being kicked out of your own home by those close to you can be a very painful experience.
My best of wishes to him.

That's ridiculous! I always thought parents loved and cared for their children no matter what, and accept them for who they are. I know the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows but they're his parents! I really wish him the best during this.

    Parents...
If they can't even have the self-competency to love their children for who they are and NOT what they do, they don't deserve to have kids.
    Pathetic.

Oh man, I hope things work out a bit for him in the end. I feel so bad for him for having to live with that kind of parents...

What else to say. This is terrible.

I can see the parents being disappointed but kicked out for liking ponies? Really? If that was the case of being kicked out of your own home then why come back? Your gonna still like the show no matter what.

This is infuriating. A child should expect acceptance from their parents, not be pushed away by them....ugh...

*Sigh* Once again, another couple ignorant of the facts of life.

Bronies exist. Get used to it.

I'm speechless. I actually don't know what to type other than: What the he'll are those parents playing at?!
Something needs to be done, to end the stereotypes of Bronies, to rid us of these false accusations and ignorance that is quickly becoming apparent to me that it is a regular occurrence. :sigh:
Love and tolerance cannot be applied, I do NOT tolerate this.
All the best luck I can give goes out to that Brony! I hope his parents realise the error of their ways in bringing up a child in this way. But at least now he knows not to treat his children in the same way.

Yeah, kinda contradicted my first sentence. Oh, the irony.

I saw this on EqD just today.

Looked over it, sad that parents kicked him out of the house just because of that. If that happened to me, I'd find a nearby brony to stay with, or just stay at my friends house.

Just because of something that we like and something they think we're supposed to not like is a good reason to kick them or anyone out of a house. That's just ridiculous.

Hopefully the person will be alright until it's safe to go back.

You may find a closed mind and a stupid attitude anywhere.

"Mom and dad" should know that I'm a 46 year old man with a job, a life, a car, a house, a family, a future, a retirement, plenty of hobbies, and one of the things I enjoy is that show, MLP:FiM and frankly the last thing I'd ever get out of it would be anything related to pedophilia. I simply can not make that connection even in my wildest flights of imagination.

However...I may never look at a mare in quite the same way again. (Insert sarcastic grin here.)

Good point, and yeah, I feel you, bro... It's the exact same reason I tell no one.
Telling someone "I'm a Brony." means nothing (unless they know, ofcourse)
It's when they ask "What's that?" it starts.
You then have to mention MLP:FiM somewhere, and, unless they're completely open-minded, they will start devising accusations. Without explaining thoroughly, going into every last detail that it's mostly the community itself that is amazing and not the show, they won't understand you. Then, because it's a kid's show, this extremely strange link with paedophilia comes in and the rumours spread like wildfire.
^ That is my worse case scenario, I know it isn't like that most of the time. :derpe:

Oh well, ignorance isn't hard to come by. If I tell anyone, I would get them to see it for themselves.

What? A parent are not supposed to disown their kids for any reason, the ones who does do not deserve to have kids. Why do I get the feeling these guy's parents would have done the same if he was gay, they do seem like the type.

If I were that guy, I would never come back. If his parents can't respect his right of having his own taste and opinions, they were never fit to be parents in the first place.

Gahh... sorry, but this kind of thing just makes me so angry. Especially how they compare liking MLP with pedophilia, that is on level with the stupid notion that Dungeons and Dragons lead to Satanism. How do they even get that notion, even Fox News did not go that far. I know I should love and tolerate, but there are limits, If someone I know ever makes such a statement, I would force every single episode of FIM down their throat and then force them to watch G3 ponies, just so they get some perspective.

Ok, I need to calm down, I think I will watch more ponies

    Edit.
Hang in there fellow brony, you are not without friends.

Yeah, I know what I said before, but I guess I was just in shock that something like this happened. I agree with Sunburn here. Still wishing him all the best! I hope his parents see the problems they have caused and apologise, however likely, or unlikely that may seem.

You are probably right. But I am not that good a person, in fact, for a brony, I am extremly vengeful. I may not be so easy to anger, but once I am, I get really angry.

I apoligize for the attitude, but I am serious. The parents are in serious need of actually watching some ponies before they judge it. It can teach them some simple values they seem to have forgotten, for starters, acceptance. Why are the most important of values always forgotten while the most despicable is widely spread?

I hope this guy never gives up and never surrenders, he has done nothing wrong and shouldn't try to see his mother's way of thinking to convince himself that he has, Credits to this guy!

Hopefully, my parents didn't react like that. I wanted to show them some episodes, but they don't know english.
