granted, it's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday... I wish I didn't just play that song in my head xD
Firstly this isn't advertising, This is a pre-release post to gather opinions from fellow Bronies. What do I need your opinions on? just about everything really 1) Do you agree with the amount of currency been mined yearly? 2) Do you think we can achieve better than the Doge meme community did with their currency? 3) Do you like the PoS/PoW advanced hybrid system or pure POW? 4) Do you think half the supply of Dogecoin is okay, or should we go even rarer supply with our currency? 5) Do you think merchants at Bronycon and other conventions would accept the currency as payment? 6) Would you use Bronycoin to tip your friends for art work and stuff? 7) Do you think the sub units 100 million parts that make up 1 Bronycoin, should be called Pegasisters or Bits?? 8) what do you believe is best way to insure only Bronies get free currency??? This is a mock up of this release post note no download links or source till we're ready, but if you wish to test a crypto wallet to see what the competition has, Id say try Dogecoin as that's the currency we'll be looking to take over in market share. Bronycoin (BRO) like with the satoshi parts in a Bitcoin, the 100 million parts that make up each Bronycoin will be called Bits, Bits for short so 100 million Bits = 1 Bronycoin (Brony) Why Bronycoin? Because first of all, we don't like central banks and corrupt governments, and would love to see them lose the monopoly, Why shouldn't Bronies create and control our own currency? Bronycoin's goal is to be used for tipping other Bronies for Artwork and Fun on forums, social networks, darknets like I2P, Tor and others, as well as the normal Internet (clearnet) At the current moment it works with SOCKS over I2P/Tor. Native support for I2P should be in place soon. Its an advanced NeoScrypt PoW/PoS coin, and has some other nice features too. Such as transaction messaging and been (Turning complete) But the main feature is the large community of Bronies, something Doge could only dream of why should doge go down as the greatest meme in history just because somebody made a cryptocurrency of it??? Bronies create more memes daily than any dogers. Proof-Of-Stake Bronycoin's major distinguishing feature is that it uses proof-of-stake/proof-of-work hybrid system. The proof-of-stake system was designed to address vulnerabilities that could occur in a pure proof-of-work system. For example, there is a risk of 51% attacks in Bitcoin or Litecoin and Dogecoin resulting from a monopoly on mining power (a 51% attack is when a single entity possesses over a half of the network hash power), which would possibly allow this entity to double spend coins. With a proof-of-stake system, a network attacker would also need to gain a large quantity of coins. This has the effect of making a monopoly more costly, and stops the risk of a monopoly from proof-of-work mining shares. Digital money made for the Internet Bronycoin was born from the Internet, bringing the freedom of physical money to the virtual world, while making payments easier and more secure in both worlds. Bronycoin can offer an alternative to previous cumbersome and costly systems, and it can increase online business access to developing countries, as well as helping to advance open source freedom, and the Brony community world wide. SPECIFICATIONS Advanced hybrid proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) 50 billion coins to be produced block hashing is BLAKE2s PoW hashing is NeoScrypt PoS hashing is SHA-256d 1 minute combined block target (3 minutes for PoW, 1.5 minutes for PoS) Retargets every block Time warp and instamining protection Advanced checkpointing against 51% attacks Transaction messaging supported 6 confirmations for regular transactions 200 confirmations for minted coins Very low transaction fees (most transactions are free) No destruction of transaction fees (all collected by a block finder) The default P2P port is 15298, RPC port is 15299 I2P/Tor ready POS INFORMATION PoW and PoS blocks carry the same fixed reward of 5 Brony one of the 1st implementation of a fixed PoS block rewards STATS / RANKINGS http://coinmarketcap.com/all.html http://www.whattomine.com/ not on sites yet. When Bronycoin is released you know Cryptocurrency But us Bronies will hold strong, and reach $500,000,000 market Cap to blow doge out of the game.
I'm thinking at this moment the 100 million parts that make a Bronycoin, should be called Bits instead of Pegasisters, would anybody be against that?
Dogecoin was supposedly a joke based off the Doge meme, but I wouldn't say they planned it as a joke, now we hear claims that it was the greatest meme in history because of that. I'm sorry but Bronies meme more daily than any Doge fans... We are Bronies, and Friendship is Magic, but I'm sorry that dog has to die lol
Look m8, you're clearly very good at IT and you are clearly very intelligent. So why are you wasting your time and effort into making a virtual currency that will never really be used?
It will be used, I plan to make sure every Brony in the world gets some free Bronycoin, and we already have a confirmed merchant account provider, Cointopay.com Not to mention tipping your friends, because we all know friendship is magic. I believe your here to troll my thread??? why such a large picture on every post? I wouldn't mind if it was a Pony
I am not an economist but that's probably not a good strategy to keep your currency from tanking That's his sig. Gets added onto every post.
What I'm noticing in this thread is how unfinished this "Bronycoin" currency is. The Social/Pools/Ports/Downloads/Stats sections of this post are all just mentions of how this currency doesn't have any of those things yet. I would think that this thread ought to more appropriately be an idea mill for a currency that has yet to be established or an advertisement for a currency that has been established, but it's counter-intuitive to write it as though it's both of those things. Furthermore, I would like to point out that no cryptocurrency has ever managed to separate people from big banks and government completely in the western world. The idea is good, assuming you don't like big banks; I personally don't really have a problem with them conceptually, I just think that in practice they tend to be kind of rubbish. But if half the people who pitched these ideas understood how hard (read: nearly impossible) it is to subvert the currency of an entire country, they wouldn't even dare to try. In order for a currency to be successful, it has to be accepted by multiple groups of people. Few consumers are going to care about it if merchants don't accept it. Heck, there aren't even that many merchants that accept the Bitcoin when compared to the American Dollar. You've stated here that there don't appear to be many merchants accepting Bronycoin yet. Hey, every currency starts somewhere, but the only way that I can support Bronycoin is as a consumer, and the only way that I can use Bronycoin as a consumer is if merchants accept it. I'd like to hear more about that. Also, you've brought up that point about Bronies making more memes that the "doge fandom" a few times on this forum, but I have to ask: how is that relevant? Memes aren't currency. It doesn't say anything about the different cryptocurrencies and is essentially a giant distraction from the fact that Dogecoin has a headstart on Bronycoin. So, again: memes aren't really relevant to this conversation. Originally yeah, but I think people started taking it seriously and it accumulated some value.
Your response is appreciated, the things your talking about will be provided when Bronycoin is released, then tipbots and other services to follow. As you can see from the thread this is for pre-release talk, to see what features fellow Bronies would like to see in the currency.
I think it is, because if Crypto people want Bronycoin they'll have to beg Bronies to tip them, as apart from miners Bronies will be the only people to receive free coins.
You You make good points so I must reply again, but remind you the currency isn't released yet Why is it important that we're bigger than Doge? Bronies and fans probably number a million strong world wide.. its said Bitcoin only has 500,000 users, I believe Bronycoin could be a success. The point is should we make it a rare supply currency or half the supply of Doge I guess?, if it was rare supply we could pass the price of Bitcoin and make a mockery of the entire system. This is why I believe 50 billion is a fun number, with only 1 million coins mined by miners yearly to secure the network, so we don't get Crypto miners dumping on us and competing with Brony miners. This way on coinmarketcap we'll be second place to Bitcoin yet above Dogecoin. Starting market cap $500,000,000
With $500,000,000 worth of Bronycoin to share with Brony related services an fans, it won't be hard to find merchants. Though my main hope is for the community to accept tipping each other with Brony, because Friendship is Magic
No reminder necessary; that point was the crux of my first paragraph. You're missing my point there. I was saying that memes aren't a good way of measuring population value of a group (ex: a small number of people can create a large number of memes and vice-versa), and also that they're not really relevant to the success of a currency in any other way. Comparing Dogecoin to Bronycoin by the numbers is important; using memes for that comparison is asinine. Also, if your intention is to create a currency for use only by a select internet co-culture, you're way off base. You ought to try and make Bronycoin appealing to non-bronies for success on the larger market (unlikely) to ensure that it won't just be a flash in the pan (likely). Not necessarily; I wanted to say earlier that you're essentially asking people to buy their way into a system that they won't see as being necessary. Imagine you're pitching a product to a business' board of executives. Make a case for Bronycoin. Why should people care? Cryptocurrency has had a negligible effect on the value of the currencies that most people already use, so how would you get people to care about Bronycoin? Having a rarer supply only makes it harder for people to buy into it after the fact. That means you're surviving off of only the consumers you're managed to entice at the date of your currency's release; this will likely mean fewer consumers will use Bronycoin and fewer merchants will go out of their way to accept it. That's an awful business model for this currency. You'd be excluding the majority of the market, making the currency essentially irrelevant to non-Bronies, otherwise known as most of the world's population. Nobody wants to beg Bronies for tips. That's unappealing. Your sentiment seems to be that Bronycoin is designed to make Bronies richer than non-Bronies, and that is so backwards that I don't even know how to respond.
