So I plan on buiding myself a new computer. I have my friend to help with the whole putting it together thing. I plan on using it for gaming and music mostly. So I ask the great members of everypony forum. What parts do you suggest? You know videocards, motherboards all that junk. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I'd recommend at least a 1 TB Hard Drive, and some very, very good RAM if you want the best performance. Make sure to get a decent amount of Fans (2-3 small ones, or 1 big one) if you want to keep it well ventilated to make sure it doesn't overheat, and ensure that your motherboard is powerful enough to support the Video Card, RAM, and Hard Drive. That's about all the advice I can offer.
Thanks saikyo. I forgot to mention. The I plan on spending about 700 dollars at most. Maybe a little more it all depends. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Here's a build. Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 Mobo ~ $160 RAM is up to you. ~ $50+ (Just make sure it's supported by the mobo.) NVidia GTX 560 Video ~ $190 750Watt Antec PSU 80+ Certified ~ $110 Cooler Master HAF 922 Case ~ $110 AMD Phenom II X6 1090 ~ $175 500GB Hard Drive ~ $100 ^ You can save if you can salvage. DVD Burner ~ $25 ^ Likewise. Monitor - Up to you Keyboard - Details: Up to you Mouse - Similar ^ OS - Up to you I think I covered everything. Solid build. Fairly cheap. EDIT: $700, Let me redo this.
16GB of RAM! (4GB each!) :derpe: Ok... yeah, get a good amount of RAM. Preferably at least 8GB DDR3. 1TB for HDD Space for all those ponies, a huge flank monitor, add some LED's, spinners, boost-gauge, nitrous, etc... (You know you want some light show.) I don't know much about PC building, besides where to put the parts at. :derpe: Anyways, http://www.newegg.com is your friend. :derpe:
Hmm.I'll check some prices. I'll post some suggestions tommorow.I will try to find some Cost-Effective ways of making a gaming computer... mine's as Souped up as I can afford.Have a good night, Pixel, everypony else, as well.EDIT: Well then, it seems some suggestions have already been posted.I'm glad I could help, Pixel. You have a nice night.
CPU - Intel i5 Quad Core - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074 (May want to consider a Hex Core to future-proof) Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121508 RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262 GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873 (Depending on what you want it for, a 5770 should run most things smoothly. Something in the 68xx range would be very good also.) Alt/ GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908 PSU - 650W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171052 HDD - 500GB (x2(?)) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145532 Optical Drive - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 Chassis - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216 (I have this one, excellent for cooling and comes with fans pre-installed) I'd recommend Win7 Premium 64-bit aswell for your OS. Then the other peripherals such as KB/Mouse/Monitor ect. are whatever you want, can use the ones you have now if you want to save even more! :derpe: (Might not all be compatible or what you want, something I threw together while on Skyrim, lulz)
Thank you. You guys are the best. I have to wait till I get home to check all the links though. I don't want to kill my battery on my phone. My computer now has windows 7 I like it so I really want it on my new one. Thanks for the laugh Dee aRe Dee. I'll defintly get some spinners. EDIT: I'm willing to spend more then 700 dollars that is just a cap for now. I'd also like to run dual monitors -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Complete build for ~$725 before tax and shipping DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811154098 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128490 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500194 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341048 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139046 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103871 OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 I'd suggest you stick to NVidia GPUs; At this point, They pack more performance per dollar, Furthermore run cooler and are more stable with overclock. (A good half of it has Free shipping on it.)
Another thing I want to say aswell is - at least try to get 2 HDD's. Have your OS on the C Drive then the other non-essential stuff such as Photoshop ect. install on the other. It's what I did and it's a heck of a lot better than old my computer with a single HDD.
Though it's actually a good idea To install your OS on a 40GB SSD, And then have everything else on another drive. Faster boot times and Registry access, etc; But it comes with a hefty price tag. I really think that the build I suggested covers everything. Having a single 500GB HDD is a good jumping off point. You can always just add more drives. And the $725 price tag is also an advantage, While still getting 4 cores and an enthusiast level video card.
If only SSD's where cheaper I'd get one and reinstall Win7. My friend has a 240GB one, damn it was expensive. £300
NewEgg.com is the best place to shop for PC hardware. ASUS motherboard (I don't know much about mobos, find one that fits your needs) AMD Quad core processor (2.5-3.2ghz clock) Kingston HyperX ram (6-8 gigs) 600gig-1 TB hard drive (Samsung) I don't know how much of a gamer you are, but I used a Radeon 4850 HD Pro. It's far from amazing, but it plays most games at decent graphics with good framerate. If you're look to go up, I recommend going dual-quad core for processor and getting something like an ATI Sapphire Radeon HD6950 TOXIC Edition. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/08/29/sapphire_toxic_hd6950_video_card_review/1 Anyway. My computer is probably worthless in value by today's technology. I would love a wicked gaming rig, but I'm far more inclined to get an amazing headset/headphones first. ALWAYS read reviews. They can contain anything from instructions to warnings, especially sound cards since they tend to conflict with things heavily. I've listed the brands my uncle swears by for specific parts.
