I was informed of this event and I am considering whether to enter. It looks like a fantastic opportunity to show people what you can do! http://2012youngartists.uk2k12.com ABOUT (Quoted from the website) "To celebrate 2012 as a special international year in the UK, Charnwood Arts UK2K12 is launching an ambitious project encompassing all forms of visual arts created by young people across the world. We want thousands of young artists to create and submit square artworks, to be displayed on the exhibition and competition website, and turned into a book. Over the year, we will be offering a series of prizes for the best artworks. Our judges will choose 503 artworks every three months to go on the Web and be forwarded to the book design. We are looking for photographers, illustrators, painters, graphic designers and makers. Anyone producing visual arts aged 18 and under. All young people everywhere in the world are invited to submit one work for this year-long project. Entry is free and all successful entrants will be informed that their work has been selected. Schools and art groups for children and young people are also invited to enter but please encourage individual work. Every three months we will select a winning prize entry that will receive £100. After the final closing date of 31st December 2012 a new panel of independent judges will select an overall winning entry from ALL of the work displayed on the website from the year long competition. The winner will receive a £200 prize and a printed copy of the book when published. The book will be produced through on-line publishers Blurb and may be visited on line through the Blurb website." Obviously, being the start of the year, nothing has been submitted yet, but once you have completed your piece, if you do take part, please show everyone here and post it in this thread! Don't just use this thread to submit, however, I would love to see some discussion, even a possible collaboration from one or two. A subtle brony reference to show our mark on the year of 2012, maybe? Who knows! The possibilities are endless!
Wow, I'm definitely participating. I'm expecting nothing, but that's not the point. This does sound really fun. I'll have to check out the details real soon. Considering it's very early, I reckon discussing it like you said would be a good idea. I'll be honest, I'm awful at collaborating, but I'm ruling nothing out.
That sounds amazing! Too bad they didn't have something like this when I was in highschool. Now I'm old. Heh. You guys should totally participate while you can, just having the experience is so much fun. Do it do it do it!!
I am also participating. I will start planning in my spare time, but not straight away. I think it's a great idea and having some work from the users of this site, side-by-side would be all too awesome. The feeling's mutual with collabs, I do prefer to work alone, but I will always be open to the idea. So, about discussion? If you have any ideas or suggestions (this is to everyone) post them. Obviously, don't steal other people's ideas, that wouldn't be very sporting now, would it? I don't think it would matter if it wasn't too gruesome and a little bit more on the subtle side... :derpe: That's a damn shame... but I will definitely be participating, no doubt! We'll do ya' proud. It would be awesome, and the prize money would go to merch no doubt, haha. It would be good to have a little reference in the big thing. It is going to be displayed in an exhibition after all.
15 is my age... ...15 years have i waited for such a chance. The prize might be puny, but what does it matter when you get aknowledged to a degree? This begs for an A0 format detail drawing... This is madness, but it's a madness i dare challenge, and my perfectionism won't hold me back. Mark my words - my masterpiece has started.
Well, I'm guessing so. 18 or below tend to be classed as "youth" universally, any older is adult. I do apologise if you've only just turned 19, but maybe if you explain that you started at 18 years of age, they might just allow it. Heck, I don't know, I'm not the one to bend the rules, I'm just the messenger. Check the website for an e-mail and send them any questions that you might have. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I'm easily participating! I'll probably draw something that has to do with Fallout Equestria, I'm crazy about that book right now.
A whole year to draw something? Not bad. If my artistic talents get somewhat better throughout this year, I'll consider participating.
This is definitely something I'll gladly participate in! Being 15 years of age, I'll be more than welcome to give this contest a go.
Nice to see more participating, I look forward to seeing any progress posted here in the later months.
