Okay this was brought up in the Starlight Glimmer conversation, and now again when discussing Doctor Who. What change do you approve of, what's going too far.

For Doctor who, I'm fine with change the Doctor's gender. If it's done right then it's a fresh take on the character who's been the stagnate for a while. It's a change that makes sense for the show. Unlike the crap with the Zygons, or River, or Clara.

Okay he's an quick expounding on those points:
-Zygons: Race of shapshifers, Try to take over the earth, and the Doctor brokers a peace with them to live on Earth? I get the doctor is older and wiser, but why do they need to live on Earth? Humans of the show have proved time and time again they can't deal with something different , why put the Zygons on a planet that doesn't want them? At least with the Silurians of the previous season, the Silurians are native to earth.

-River: When introduced it was interesting to meet a person that maybe the Doctor met in the wrong order. Then they give her a convoluted origin and crap that doesn't make a lick of sense.

-Clara: dear god I don't know where to start on the crap with her. The time scar that made her the impossible girl. Bloody hell we had seemed Time Lords die on the show before, why all of a sudden do they leave time scars? Just the amount of bull*squee!* we were expected to swallow, the crap load of changes to the established lore it made it feel like we weren't even watching the same show anymore.

The doctor regenerates. Changing his form or even his race. This was brought up from the first time they replaced the actor, and expanded upon when Romana regenerated, I don't know why so many people have a problem with the Doctor finally changing more than just his face and age. The possibility have been ignored for so long it's about time they did something with it. It's not a change to the show, it's an exploration into something that's always been possible.

Rid tried to equate Optimus Prime turning into a car. Transformer is a show about Robots in Disquise, Prime has been a car before, he's been a T-Rex. So long as they keep the character right, then what he turns into doesn't matter. Now if they turned Optimus into a chick... that might be different. If it was a different continuity then fine, but in the bounds of an already established continuity that kind of change doesn't make sense. It's their disguise that change, not their core robot. Sure their kibble changes to match the alt mode, but central robot stays the same.

I will fully admit when I saw primes new truck mode for the movie I hated it. I was younger and a bit more ridged in what Prime should be. I got used to new truck quickly though, it wasn't the big deal I thought it was going to be. The stories for the movies ruined them not Primes truck mode.
