However, when asked to kill a pony, he refused, coming to the realization that what he was doing was wrong. As a result, at the age of 9, he left the gang, and drifted from town to town, searching for work and shelter, and just as he almost gave up all hope, he came to Manehattan at the age of 11, where he saw a computer for the first time. He was shocked to discover that he could easily figure out the programming language, and even more shocked to realize that he had just gotten his cutie mark. At age 14, he found work in Ponyville as a programmer, and subsequently moved in next door to the library, where he met Twilight Sparkle. The two became close friends, due to their shared capacity for knowledge. One day, while meeting Twilight's friends, he developed a crush on Rainbow Dash, due to her athleticism and tomboyism.
