Community Post #124 Pictured: What I've been doing most of December. If you've been wondering why one of these posts hasn't been written in weeks, it's because of two reasons. One, I forgot to ask somepony else do it. Two, I've been a checkout assistant for Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's for those likely not in the know is a supermarket chain over here. And apparently, only over here. Unlike Walmart, Lidl and Morrisons who have managed to move overseas to other places, Sainsbury's is UK and UK only. It also hasn't been bought out by anything right now too. And I got to join the team for the Christmas Holidays. Yay me. You know what? It's not a bad job. On one hand, it's pretty monotonous. You beep things and push them back and forth. When your done, you read the screen, hand them paper, take payment and da-da-da-da-dobbie-da. Repeat until dead or shift ends. The advantage is the people you can talk to. In fact, it seemed keenly encouraged to chat, joke and mess around a little with customers. In fact, I'd say it was necessary. Hours are usually pretty long and filled with beeps, long stretches of boredom and other people's shopping. You are stuck there and even though I had a looping Christmas CD to listen to (which I was all right with (I like Christmas Songs, OK?)). So, chatting to the grab-bag of customers was a necessity to maintain sanity. 100% of them were perfectly fine. No maniacs looking to kick me out because I said something in the wrong tone, no major mistakes, no utter catastrophes. Other than two of my tills dying on me. One was from water getting in the internals. The other was the bloody thing simply crashing. After spending 15 minutes looking for a working Gift Card to sell, I sorted out the customer, let her wonder off and then have an error message pop up. Kinda weird, you forget these things are just computers and some scanners. Some of the customers were fantastic. Like the guy who turned up that used to be a Researcher or something. We got chatting about coding and building games. Like I'll do at the drop of a hat. I did have a customer turn up with his shopping covered in Gravy. But...the items weren't leaking and they didn't come from anywhere that was likely to have gravy leaking so, did he add it himself? Is this excess gravy? Is he looking to add extra flavour to the packaging earlier to ensure his ready meal is tastier? Or did he think something with extra gravy on it was a big saving? I may never know. Otherwise? I spent the time telling jokes. I like to think I was all right. Not hilarious, just unexpectedly pleasant. Little things like explaining that the coupons that were handed out after almost every purchase were gifts from the All-knowing Computers. And that they must be happy and content in their bounty lest the computers become angry and Blue Screen of Death the world. You know, stupid, snarky things. I did get one really good joke this week though. Here goes! Why do Russian's only drink Fruit Teas? Because in Communism, Proper Tea is theft! If your not enjoying that in it's full beauty, read it out loud. If your still not quite getting it, go Google it. I'll run through the Staff stuff and we'll see if you like it now your in the know. - Recommended Reading Not really that much of a random or silly question but, are there any Pegasister/Female Bronies in Texas? It is pretty large, I'm sure there are somewhere. It's not like there's a shortage of space for them in Texas. Welp, we have a regular back on this section in this new year. And it's for Legend of Zelda so is pretty neat. Speaking off, we have more Zelda games announced and leaked footage. This time, it's two of Nintendo's developers sitting around, playing . If your interested, it could be enlightening. Are you feeling manly enough? Personally, I haven't given a crap about masculinity since the day I found I wasn't allowed to like musicals to keep it. Sod that! I want my Phantom of the Opera fix! I have an itch that only organs and classical ballads between a performer and a maniac in a mask can scratch! Anyway, for those in need of an injection of masculinity into your ponies, look no further. Here's an interesting debate: What would cartoons be like in real life? Oh...Oh dear. Oh, my that's horrifying. And...Yep! It's eyes follow you around the room, good grief! OK, we need something to cheer ourselves up. Luckily, Yami has us covered. BEHOLD! INCREDIBLE ANIMATION THE LIKES OF WHICH YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN! Thank you Yami. It's always great to hear from you. Especially hearing your show might come back. Now for some edumakashun! Let's learn you some stuff about bugs! Yes! Simon is back, documenting the creatures that wonder around his back garden. This week, The Tailless Whipscorpion. No idea what that is? Then go read it! Next, Dilly's been doin' a little writing. Apparently, she's been working on a book but has let us see just a little bit of what she has so far. That's pretty awesome! Freebies are always awesome. I wonder if I should review that snippit...hmm... Oh! And then there's what I wrote, like! Because I'm good at that and stuff! First, for those who are umm-ing and ahh-ing over whether to jump to the latest version of Pokemon should probably look at this review. Although, it's written a little differently than usual. And then lastly, do you enjoy hearing about the turgid, sodden and grime-smeared depths of the movies considered too horrible to recommend? Well, I decided to review one of these things because I'm just sick in the head like that. I hope you enjoy. For those of an easily disgusted nature might want to avoid that one. I think it's interesting but it doesn't hide how shamelessly horrible this movie is... Probably wasn't even worth getting one up on Crimson's Foodfight review... OK. Did you get that joke yet? Ugh...Because it's a play on 'Property'. And that's considered theft in Communism. As far as the joke is concerned. Cue somepony below correcting me even though I'm don't care, the joke still makes me laugh. Anyway, Happy New Year Everypony. Here's to another one, ay?
Yay for Sainsbury's my office used to be right across the car park from a Sainsbury's store, I used to get lunch from there! However back in my home town the nearest Sainsbury's is like 10 miles away!
I also got a part-time job at Toy 'R Us, and it treated me pretty well. The manager asked me if I wanted to come back, to which I said yes on the condition that he would schedule me around my school semester and such. Looks like we spent our breaks in similar ways.
