Art by by Bluemoon025 Welcome back to week 2 of 2014 and all that's happened so far is that I've managed to break my laptop keyboard with a spilled drink. I'm now using the noisiest keyboard I have ever known to type this out. I can only hope my hearing survives this. Anyway, it's time to check with what's been going on! I'm a touch rusty, new boy Fulcrum's been handling these... Umm...I haven't played anything so how am I meant to vent my spleen over it? And...which button jumps? Ah! Missed my lame jokes at all? Site News We've kinda declared war on Spammers using the Blog section for advertisements. You may have seen these walls of text spewed across the section like an in-flight magazine exploded. We've cleaned up most of these blogs but we've introduced a new procedure to curb the situation. New Users will now be required to make a 15 post minimum before getting access to their own Blog. This should be enough of a hurdle to discourage spambots. Plus, 15 posts isn't that hard for any new member to make. Any active member should be able to make that within a few days. Radio News Last night marked the radio debut of Unity of Factors, who will be joining me on Let's Play Thursdays. From 5 EST till (roughly) 7, Unity will be streaming and joking around before I close the night with my own show, straight after. Come join us! Oh! And our Shoutcast is Back! Feel free to tune in whenever you like with two sources of Pony Musical Goodness! it even has a nice, new, 'compact' look to it. Oh! This also means that we're back up on Hoofsounds, Ponyville Live and Ponyville Live's Android App. So, there's plenty of places to pipe in music from us. Even your tablet now! It feels so posh! Like Picture Perfect's ideal way of listening to music! As a side note, we're tinkering with Twitch integration. At the most, it's simply something we can replace the Shoutcast with, when required. Something to think about for anypony looking to try adding to our roster of shows. Recommended Reading It's always good to support ponies that are working on projects and share them with us. This is the case with Hydro Ambiance, sharing what appears to be a couple of works in progress. Go listen and maybe give your thoughts. I'm certain we have a few more qualified than me to talk about music and maybe even share what they've been working on too. Fun Fact: I will always avoid deep musical discussion if I can. Why? I like Coldplay, that's why! It tends to ruin your musical credibility. But I review games, fan fics and movies so I'm in the clear there. Antidaeophobia (Don't try and pronounce the word, just call it 'The Fear of Being Stalked by a Duck') is going in for surgery in a few weeks, according to the last blog post made. Perhaps a few good words will help at this stage. It's a scary thing, after all. Either way, we wish for a smooth time and a fast recovery afterwards. Well! How about something to perk us up? According to an interview with a Hasbro Bigwig we sorta-probably-maybe-possibly-could be seeing a Season 5 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Now, this was only a nod, not so much a full on announcement so, curb your enthusiasm. Not too many balloons and not too much cheering and elation. Keep it to around 60%. Save it for the official announcement and then blow the roof off with joy! I've been trying to keep busy too. I've invented a sandwich that Whovian's will approve of and I've done a long run down of the movies I managed to actually see in 2013. That and sorting out some of these Shoutcast bits and pieces, it's been rather busy. I think I need something to relax to... See you later folks! Have fun and turn in next time!
inb4 the spambots just move to forum posts. I'm convinced all that is necessary is this, but I guess the post went unnoticed or ignored. And even if more does need to be done the fact of the matter is that the registrations themselves should be mitigated as best as possible to prevent other avenues of spam and cluttering of the memberlist. *shrugs* Guess we'll see how this works instead?
I kind of agree with Mike. It's like hanging up a painting to cover up a crack in the wall, but the wall isn't actually fixed. AKA The Homer Simpson method. 8^y Glad to see a new shoutcast, by the way. It actually fits better with the site's colorful designs, so there's that. :derpe:
Needs a bit of styling tweaks though. I think if your iframe height is 100% will get rid of the scrollbars that appear when you click play. Would be nice if the Site button could be removed, but since it's an iframe you don't really have much control over that, unless the guys at PVL could settle that for you.
