As of today, Everypony has successfully reached a staggering five-thousand members! I would like to show my congratulations to the site, and commend all work for everypony who work to keep it going! Your hard work has brought it thus far, and hopefully farther!
5000 already? God, I remember when we made a big deal about 3000. Heck, I think I checked it like, yesterday and there were only 4960. How the time flies. Here I am an admin of this site, and yet I can think back not too long ago when I hung out with Flash, Foxy, Raindrop, Viper, and so on in a separate skype call which would be up almost 24/7. Skip forward a year or so later and all of said people have more or less left the site and I remain with new friends. And the cycle will continue, members will leave, members will join, and the staff will rotate And I will one day have to step down Likely soon too. But for now, I'm just happy to be a part of this site, even if it was for but a brief period so far.
Incredible!! :') I'm so happy about seeing the flourishing waves of new members coming in and welcoming them! Great this site has come so far ^.^
It's great that we're achieving such an incredible number of overall users, but Trance raises an excellent point. As exciting as reaching a large number of users can be, it's severely dampened when a tiny fraction of that are staying active. It's exciting to celebrate these milestones, but the focus should be on trying to keep people engaged so they will actually stick around on the site.
I'd have to agree with Mr. Negative Negativity pants up there. 5000 total members does not mean we actually have 5000 members. However, it isn't like it means absolutely nothing either. Besides, I've been on a few different forums in my time, prolly more than a dozen in the last ten years. For the most part, even the forums with over 20k registered members, still only had a small percentage of that worth of active members. This forum gets kinda slow at times yes, and it isn't anywhere near as active as it was in 2011, but it's not that slow either. The people who are active on these boards are usually very active, a lot of us having over 1000 posts, which gives this place a kind of "small town" feel, where everybody knows everybody and we all feel at home. So no, 5k members isn't really worth a celebration, but it's not something I'd complain about either.
I guess that this is a valid reason to celebrate. While there aren't 5000 active members on this site (there's probably not even 100), it does mean that this forum is more attention. As this forum gets more attention, more and more people will hear about it and hopefully join.
