Okay this is sort of like a reaction to the thread "A sad day for bronies world wide" I think if we all send hasbro emails asking them to put youtube videos back up or to make the episodes on their site nationally available we may be able to get them to see reason. They may not know how big a problem this is for bronies outside USA and Canada. So here is the link http://hasbro.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...Y2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9M For this to work we need to get as many bronies to email as we possibly can.
It still proves a problem for me if they are making the only way to get episodes is to get them from their site because from what I heard is that they will only make streams available in USA. I may be wrong though and be worrying for nothing.
I tried the hub site, and (It might just be my cruddy conection) they don't seem to work for me either. Maybe we could ask them to put the full episodes on youtube themselves, so know one's left out? This way, people can easily access the episodes all over the world, and no ones getting in trouble for copy right law. Or we could ask them to make the site more... usable. I dunno.
Dont try to contact hasbro, they will not act. In fact it can only piss them off. Hasbro has been super nice to all off us. They are not giving us trouble. They will only interrupt if people start torrenting whole eps and spreading them on forums and stuff like that.
Cyzzacle's youtube channel is still up guys. I contacted him and told him to make stuff private until things blow over so that he won't be taken down.
I think Hasbro is taking precautions. They had every right to remove the archive. Streaming is one thing, stealing via torrents is another. I think it pissed them off enough to where they are threatening to remove the YouTube streams. Whether or not they will actually do that is unknown. It was hinted in the email that Yetione got from Hasbro (you can read it here), but hasn't been confirmed. We were originally told that we would be allowed to upload full episodes on YouTube for all to see, I'm not sure why that suddenly changed. It could POTENTIALLY mean that Hasbro is planning their own releases; whether it be DVD's or their own streaming service. Time will only tell. We shouldn't be drawing conclusions so soon. And sending hate mail to Hasbro is that last thing to do. As it was stated before, Hasbro has been relatively nice to us (compared to other corporations...), and we should be grateful!
well, as mike said, I've already contacted Hasbro, and got somewhat in dialog with them. I didn't sent hate mail, but rather purposing mail. In mails I got from them, I've acknowledged that Hasbro did in fact take down youtube episodes (and they were one that made that typo), and don't plan on putting it on youtube. how ever they relate on HubWorld which would be fine if it wasn't region lock, and if you could watch all episodes there. Apparently, in Hasbro HQ (people that took down youtube accounts) weren't aware that HubWorld was region locked, and she (person I talked to) forwarded my mail(s) to people in charge for episodes on Hub World. Also they weren't aware of iTunes episodes being region lock. Also, she said that they will take in consideration putting some alternative (non iTunes) way to buy episodes (honestly, mlp:fim is worth buying, if price is not to high). Last mail, I sent was proposing on model of what one other big show (South Park) did. (they made SouthParkStudios.com, owned by Comedy Central, they put up for stream all episodes (and uploading new ones one day after original airing) and it's world wide available (they also put in their own ads))
But the Hub World only shows the latest episode (and the 2 before it). Are they planning on hosting all episodes there?
not yet, but I asked them to (since it's their site already, and I said that fans would really appreciate it ), still waiting for reply on that one (sent couple hours ago, on first one I waited 2 days for reply )
Well, I think I will send a letter, I don't think it will hurt as long as I am polite. If you guys approve of it I may send it. Dear Hasbro. I am a great fan of your My Little Pony Friendship is Magic show. I am also part of the group commonly known as bronies, and we would like to emphasize that the Pony Archive does not represent our community in any way, shape or form. You had full rights to take them down and most support you in that decision. However I happen to live outside the United States and the episodes on Hubworld and on Itunes seems to be region locked. Which means the international audience cannot acces the show in it's original language in an officially supported way. Many fans would love to contribute to the show as it's succes is in our intrest as well as yours, if you would just give us the means to do so. International releases of episodes on Itunes in thier original language would be a great start as I would love to buy all the episodes. Ultimately we want the same thing, that My Little Pony Friendship is Magic shall be a financial succes, so please let us contribute. Your faithful fan. Darkmoon of Everypony
Good letter, And I wasn't implying that we send hate mail either I was simply suggesting that we send mail to them asking to drop the region lock and give us the means to support the show Just like this letter states here.
I don't know how I feel about writing Hasbro. Assuming you do write at all, however, I have a few suggestions: 1. Don't tell Hasbro what's in their best interest. They know what's in their interest; telling them explicitly like this is insulting to their intelligence, even if you don't mean it that way. 2. I wouldn't mention the pony archive issue. If you're polite, you'll set yourself apart from that filth without having to remind Hasbro folks of bad times. 3. Use your real name. I don't know how Hasbro secretaries feel, but I would be less likely to take a screen name seriously than the name of a real consumer. Maybe that's irrational; it's still good rhetoric to assume the worst. 4. Try to be more concise and be specific. I suggest "Hasbro, I am a great fan of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Unfortunately, I live in (X city) in (Y country), where it is impossible to purchase episodes or other merchandise. If you were to make this available, perhaps through an international Itunes release, I and many of my friends would buy what was made available. We love your show and hope to help make it a success. Signed, ______"
