I can't be the only one who has fallen in love a character that isn't real. Myself I must confess I have fallen really hard for our own blue pegasus, Rainbow Dash. I do not know how I got to this point, maybe I should feel ashamed, but I regret nothing. I am definatly weird, but that is not neccesarily a bad thing, is it? I also have a thing for Derpy, so cute:derpe:. So have anypony else felt something similiar?

Ah, I believe there was a discussion on this a few months back. There's nothing wrong with liking or even loving a cartoon character, and MLP is no exception to this. It's very common to become attracted to a cartoon character, even sexually. You shouldn't need to feel ashamed. The reason why we attach ourselves to certain cartoon characters starts with personality traits. The pony you like will have a personality reflected of the one of an ideal mate you'd like to find in reality. Many people will say "But they're horses, obviously you're into zoophilia." and they couldn't be more wrong. I find myself attracted to Twilight, but in no way do I find any attraction to any animal in real life. In fact, I actually don't like horses, at all. It's perfectly healthy to explore different fantasies, and having attractions to cartoon characters isn't something to be ashamed of. People can argue with me all they want, but that's the way I see it.
To break down my view on the subject, like I have many a time... Fictional characters (animals or not) have personality. You can be attracted to a personality. The ponies in the show have human personalities, human speech and do human activities. They're very human, bar the fact that they're ponies, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to be attracted to one. It's perfectly natural. So no, don't feel ashamed.
^ This I have a crush on Applejack, mainly because of her whole attitude, and personality. Plus, DAT FLANK. Oh, and her hat's pretty sweet too. I actually personally have a crush on Poison Ivy from Batman. I mean, come on, have you seen her? Although come to think of it, I do like Princess Luna A LOT when she's not using the Royal Canterlot voice. I bet she'd be a nice pony to hang around with if we saw more of her personality from the end of "Luna Eclipsed".
I really like Alita's personality from Battle Angel Alita. Barring spoilers, she's a very deep and interesting character. Sechs and their history adds onto that, too.
