Yeah, well... uhhh... ummmmmm... muffins! Yes, yes muffins. I'm such a clever pony.:derpe: But yes, since Derpy is a background pony, only so much is really known about her at this time. She was almost entirely created by the fans for the fans too. I'm kinda on the fence as to whether I'd like to see them cover more about her and bring her closer to the big spotlight, or keep her as that "Where's Waldo" pony in the background. I believe I remember somepony else saying that's part of her charm and loveability (I know, I know, its a word now) and I agree. But something we can all agree on: She's simply our loveable Muffin Princess and we hope she sticks around. Given her fanbase and all, I'm sure that's in the bag. The muffin bag!
I love when derpy loves. Yet despite this she still seems kind and innocent. And that is what I learned today. Dear Princess Celestia, Please keep derpy hooves in season 2 and bring her forward while keeping her charm that many of us bronies love. Your faithful student, Galen.
Me too! Her and Luna are the two characters that I can't wait to see what will be done with in season 2!
I'm really curious what her voice will sound like in season 2, I'm just wondering how they can take that voice-wise, there's a lot of options really.
I can say only one thing about Derpy: I can't wait to see her in season 2. I hope she'll be on a lot, and maybe get more airing time (like Celestia had in season 1, or more )
Well I wouldn't want to see her overused, but it's kinda cool since she's like the bridge between the fandom and the actual show itself
We really don't know much about her, but it's a pity that she's often being reduced to that. Wall-eyed, loves muffins (pretty much every background pony does, including Lemon Hearts who otherwise only ever says negative things in what few lines of dialogue she has), perhaps a bit ditzy and declared a mailmare in fan fiction which pretty much stuck. But does reducing her to a complete mental retard whose little mind revolves around nothing but muffins (and maybe her daughter) do her justice? I mean, was she or was she not chosen to be the final contestant (#15 before Rainbow Dash took that number) at the Best Young Flyers' Competition? If you ask me, there's a whole lot more to her than what so many fans make of her.
Yeah, I refuse to believe that she is an absolute idiot with an obsession for muffins... it was one line people! Anyways, I do like Derpy. She just isn't my favorite background pony. For me it goes: Lyra > Vinyl Scratch > Raindrops (yes, I'm serious) > Derpy

I wonder why she has bubbles as a cutie mark if she is a mail carrier. Maybe she was held underwater as a kid or something. :/ Not hating, just guessing.
Maybe they'd pull a Maggie on us, and have her always being interrupted before she can speak. Or very loud lorries driving past. I wouldn't be surprised to see that in season 2.
Well, it was confirmed Derpy was going to have a larger role in season 2, but by how much is unclear. Probably not much more significant as she is now, just no longer a 'background' pony. Maybe someone like Mr and Mrs Cake, or Gummy. On a side note, while looking for pictures of Derpy for references to a torture picture I was drawing, I came across this picture. There's still some argument over whether she even said anything at all or not. Some think that Colgate said it, and Derpy just had her mouth open. We will never know, I suppose.
