A alarming number of Americans want to have the First Amendment rewritten A recent disturbing state of affairs has been recently put to light that a large majority of Americans either want the First Amendment to be scrapped or entirely rewritten. Considering the current First Amendment as 'outdated'. This is following the Technocracy of Big Tech, censoring people's opinions on their sites. It's even stated that most of the populous now are not even sure what the First Amendment truly does. Assuming that it just outright gives you immunity for your speech, which is a disconnect from what is true of the amendment. To quote John Oliver 'The Constitution isn't the star from Super Mario Bros. It doesn't make you invincible, so you can do whatever the *squee!* you want.' And yet it seems people have become less aware of this fact. Which begs the question, when did we reach this disconnect from what is true? Why do people think the First Amendment needs to be scrapped and/or rewritten? These questions may not have definitive answers. And it's bothering to find that people want to believe that there is something wrong with the First Amendment. That it isn't strict enough on 'hate speech'. A very disgusting notion for anyone to have.
Which is in part why I find Scott Adams' quote from the Introduction of "I'm Not Anti-Business, I'm Anti-Idiot" so endearing: "I might be dumb, but I'm not dumb enough to express my true opinion about anything important. The one thing I've learned about freedom of expression is that you really ought to keep that sort of thing to yourself."
Yeah. That is true. At this point, I only reason I post stuff of this regard anymore is either out of boredom, or because I want to show others what's going on. I really don't care too much otherwise about how humanity is essentially imploding on itself. I find it kinda funny, honestly.
