Hello, and welcome to the Arena! Within, you will find all sorts of dangerous foes, and great adventure to be had! To play: Precede your command with ">>>". I'll roll a 10-sided die to decide whether or not it works. Any player who wants to join will be allowed to play. You start off with 1000 HP. The enemies almost always have more, but that's only to make teamwork and ingenuity more important. Numbers lower than 5 have negative effects, 5 does nothing, and numbers higher than 5 have a positive effect. The effect is stronger, depending on both the action and the number I roll. 10 is a critical: it has incredible effects. 1 is a failure: you may or may not burst into flames, or something equally ridiculous. Please, be as creative as possible with your commands! It's no fun if I don't have anything to work with. That's enough talk, though, for a challenger appears! The mighty Cave Troll walks forth, with a giant club. Who will step up to battle him? FOES: Cave Troll - 2000/2000 Mods, I apologize if this belongs in text games; I couldn't figure out which one it was, so I put it here. If I was wrong, move it there.
>>>Being a pegagus I fly in staying out of reach and shoot several shots from my crossbow into the Troll. I need to get a info write up on that crossbow.
(announcer): Who is the one we hear the steps of? It's... Jaret Colds! The mighty Jaret Colds, the sword of Justice steps up to the battle! With his sword and shield in hands shall he reap the sins of this Troll and cleanse it in the fires of Justice. "Justice will prevail!" cry-outs Jaret as his new Warcry. He looks at his foe, a giant Cave Troll with little to no armor protection. Short legs, long arms, and a lot of mass. He thinks that chops and slices won't do much damage to his fat hide, so thrust is the way to fight him. He looks around the troll, seeing anything to help him, and finds a small and big rock one to the next. He concludes his strategy, and gets to the deed. He runs towards the rocks, jumps on the small one, then on the big one, and jumps, trying a mighty thrust-stinger sword technique to the trolls neck. (Ok, so, i am able to edit the arena a bit? After all, i am sure there are some rocks sitting around in the arena. And am i now to wait for you to calculate/whatever?)
>>>Being a pegagus I fly in staying out of reach and shoot several shots from my crossbow into the Troll. ROLL: 3 (NEGATIVE) - All of the shots miss, only angering the troll. He swings at you, and it connects, causing you 50 damage. >>> He runs towards the rocks, jumps on the small one, then on the big one, and jumps, trying a mighty thrust-stinger sword technique to the trolls neck. ROLL: 5 (NO EFFECT) - You trip at the last second, and fall to the ground. Fortunately, a tree breaks your fall. FOES: Cave Troll: 2000/2000 PLAYERS: Ripp_: 950/1000 Jaret: 1000/1000 (Don't worry; there's no details to anything unless a player describes them. It's all very loose, and improvisation is key.)
CALL IN THE ORBITAL SATTELITES! Oh, wait, they're on the other side of the planet. Why are they always not there when I need them!? >>>Levitate a sword at the enemy.
>>>Levitate a sword at the enemy. ROLL: 7 (POSITIVE) - You slam the sword into the troll's abdomen at great force, causing a solid 100 damage. FOES: Cave Troll: 1900/2000 PLAYERS: Ripp_: 950/1000 Jaret: 1000/1000 awolf: 1000/1000
a cave troll? Does lotr logic apply here? If so... >>> attempts to lure the cave troll out of the darkness to the light of the sun.
As Robomaniac lures the Cave troll into the sun, i set up myself to stand in the middle of the sun rays, and once he sees me, i'll (again) try a stinger attack, this time into his legs, (Hopefully) making him fall down on the ground where the light is.
>>>Stablilise my self after the hit, change the rack on my crossbow whilst flying out of reach >>>Unloads another rack of blocks (thats like 21 with this thing, Its got the magics on it) into the troll.
>>> attempts to lure the cave troll out of the darkness to the light of the sun. ROLL: 8 (SUCCESSFUL) - You use your sexiness to entice the cave troll to walk into the sun. The cave troll walks into the strong light, and is instantly weakened by it. >>> As Robomaniac lures the Cave troll into the sun, i set up myself to stand in the middle of the sun rays, and once he sees me, i'll (again) try a stinger attack, this time into his legs, (Hopefully) making him fall down on the ground where the light is. ROLL: 10 (CRITICAL) - Jaret performs a quick attack, plunging his sword into the troll's leg. Feeling a bit fancy, he angles his sword intot he troll's leg, then runs up his leg and side, cutting his leg in two and opening a huge wound in the troll's side. This causes 900 damage. He topples to the ground, and the brilliant sun begines burning his skin, causing an additional 200 damage. >>>Stablilise my self after the hit, change the rack on my crossbow whilst flying out of reach ROLL: 2 (UNSUCCESSFUL) - As he attempts to reload his crossbow, it fires a grand total of 21 bolts into his face, causing him a solid 300 damage. (Sorry Ripp, but the random number generator I'm using seems to hate you. ) FOES: Cave Troll: 800/2000 PLAYERS: Ripp_: 650/1000 Robotmanic: 1000/1000 Jaret: 1000/1000 awolf: 1000/1000
OBJECTION I want to know what kind of random number generator you have. And I want the EXACT site/function/generator. >>Retreats to save distance to heal. (now how can this fail?)
A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS! Zephyr Wind flies into the arena, winds whipping about him, ready to assist the other fighters. >>> I spin wildly around the air, causing a gale of wind. I launch the bitterly cold wind at the troll, in hopes that the wind will tear and bite into it's flesh like a cat o' nine tails.
(Woohoo, tactic worked!) >>>Jaret dashes away from the fallen creature and casts a ripping spell, (hopefully) opening up the wound even more, resulting in a bigger wound, thus enhancing the chance of Zephyr's Wind (Get it?) to hit the open flesh critically.
>>Retreats to save distance to heal. ROLL: 6 (SUCESSFUL) - You run from the scene, and find a safe spot. A medic, draped in heavy armor, heals you for a welcome 200 points. >>> I spin wildly around the air, causing a gale of wind. I launch the bitterly cold wind at the troll, in hopes that the wind will tear and bite into it's flesh like a cat o' nine tails. ROLL: 5 (NEUTRAL) - You kick up a strong gale, but it goes flying in the wrong direction... >>>Jaret dashes away from the fallen creature and casts a ripping spell, (hopefully) opening up the wound even more, resulting in a bigger wound, thus enhancing the chance of Zephyr's Wind (Get it?) to hit the open flesh critically. ROLL: 4 (UNSUCCESSFUL) - The spell worked perfectly, except the wind didn't hit it's mark. Instead, you're taken back in a gust of wind, and are slammed into a rock, which deals 40 damage. FOES: Troll: 800/2000 (Crippled) PLAYERS: Ripp_: 850/1000 Jaret: 960/1000 Zephyr Wind: 1000/1000 Robotmaniac: 1000/1000 awolf: 1000/1000 (I'm using RANDOM.ORG for the number generation, Ripp. It's the little box on the top-right of the front page.)
Argh I cannot argue with random.org >>> Returns to battle and shoots at the troll's other leg hoping to render him immobile.
>>> Whips up a whirlwind and sends it to the troll. The whirlwind is strong enough to pick up some decent sized rocks.....which would hurt if anyone was struck by them.
>>>Since the last action did not really work that great, Jaret thinks that the best attack is a direct one. And since the Cave Troll got crippled, it was time to stab out his eyes as fast as possible, quite possibly leaving him vulnerable to any attack.
>>> Returns to battle and shoots at the troll's other leg hoping to render him immobile. ROLL: 8 (SUCCESSFUL) - You re-enter the fray, and launch a volley of arrows into the troll's leg, causing 200 damage. >>> Whips up a whirlwind and sends it to the troll. The whirlwind is strong enough to pick up some decent sized rocks.....which would hurt if anyone was struck by them. ROLL: 6 (SUCCESSFUL) - The wind made by the flapping of your wings picks up all kinds of debris, hurling it all over the troll. Unfortunately, his thick hide takes most of the damage, so your attack only causes 50 points of damage. >>>Since the last action did not really work that great, Jaret thinks that the best attack is a direct one. And since the Cave Troll got crippled, it was time to stab out his eyes as fast as possible, quite possibly leaving him vulnerable to any attack. ROLL: 10 (CRITICAL) - You quickly remove his eye, and a great torrent of fluid leaks out. After the blood and bile are done flooding from it's, you quickly realized that you've also removed a sizable chunk of grey matter as well. The troll has been killed! As the 5 heroes look upon their kill with triumphant looks on their faces, a hatch in the back opens up. The group sees 3 small imps crawl out of the back, drenched in sweat and with furious looks on their faces. The three take out small swords, short but sharp enough to cut through a boulder like butter. Our heroes brace themselves for a fight... FOES: Surrogate Troll: 0/2000 (DEAD) Imp 1: 750/750 Imp 2: 750/750 Imp 3: 750/750 PLAYERS: Ripp_: 850/1000 Jaret: 960/1000 Zephyr Wind: 1000/1000 Robotmaniac: 1000/1000 awolf: 1000/1000
After a quick wardrobe change, I return, my wings sheathed in a deadly sharp metal coating/armor. >>> I soar over to the three imps and perform a flurry of acrobatic twists and turns. As I maneuver my wings slash at the imps, trying to cut them to ribbons...
