I have to say... I thought the Huffy the magic dragon joke in Over the barrel was funny. That one joke was pretty funny. Especially coming from Pinky.
- "I guess the punch has been... spiked!" That's almost a borderline alcohol reference right there! - Spike faking the death of the toy rat. Now that has got to be a little bit extreme for a kids show, dosen't it? I mean the ketchup almost looked like blood too. What would go through your head if that's the scene you turned the show on to? - I wonder if the owl (i"ll ge into it's name later) trning it's head in that creepy way was supposed to be a reference to "The Excorcist"? I know owls can turn their heads that much, but it was the mood that was given at the time that made it suggest that that was the reference they were possibly making. - That was a recolor of the "Dragonshy" dragon if I ever saw one. - Which one is it: Aloysius (I think that's a spelling for it) or Owlicious (if that made any sense whatsoever)? - I thought for sure that Spike was dreaming for a minute. Starting at the point where Twilight was aking what happened to her book. Anyone else get this feeling? - Did they just make Twilight say "OMG"? Please tell me I heard wrong!
Let's hope it's the latter. Because, personally, them having Rarity say "BFF" in the last episode, I believe, was weird enough. No offence to anyone who likes to use internet chatspeak. None at all.
I picture Rarity as a blonde actually if she were a stereotype. No?... WAIT A MINUTE!!! I'm tired... And I totally just forgot this... But Derpy is a blonde... Good episode... Kind of. To tell the truth. Their voices sounded a little different in the beginning. And the was all kinds of out of character moments. I didn't really picture Spike as conceded, maybe a little, but not to how much he was on the hill. Still loved the adult humor though.
Just had a chance to watch it. Definitely not one of the most interesting episodes but it had me chuckling, guess they've caught on that more than half their audience is actually nearer the 'mature' age rating lol. I wonder if we'll see more of the owl?
I like it more than episode 23, but for some reason I like #9 more than this one, which I liked less than the episode 23... And I liked #9 more than the other 2 together... Spoiler: math haterz gonna hate Translated into maths: 24ep > 23ep, 9ep > 24ep, 23ep > 9ep ; 24ep + 23ep = 9 ep ??? Hmm, this means that 24ep is both better and worse than 9ep, which means that it's both better and worse than 23ep, which doesn't make sense; 24ep = 23ep + |x| 23ep = 9ep + |y| 9ep = 24ep + |z| translated further into mathematics: (i) 24ep = 9ep + |y| + |x| (ii) 23ep = 9ep + |y| (iii) 9ep = 9ep + |y| + |x| + |z| from 24ep + 23ep = 9 ep we get the next math problem: (i) + (ii) - (iii) = 0 from the upper comparison Working out: 24ep + 23ep - 9ep = 0 (9ep + |y| + |x|) + ((9ep + |y|) - (9ep + |y| + |x| + |z|) = 0 (2(times)9ep + 2(times)|y| + |x|) - (9ep + |y| + |x| + |z|) = 0 (9ep + |y|) - |z| = 0 |z| = 9ep + |y| 9ep = 9ep + |x| + |y| + 9ep + |y| = 2(times)9ep + 2(times)|y| + |x| seeing that x, y and z are ABSOLUTE VALUES and can't be NEGATIVE, 9ep = 9ep + |y| + |x| + |z| = 9ep + |x| + |y| + 9ep + |y| = 2(times)9ep + 2(times)|y| + |x| is impossible. even if x, y and z were 0 (Which would explain 24ep = 23ep + |x|; 23ep = 9ep + |y|; 9ep = 24ep + |z|) the 9ep = 2(times)9ep can't be true... Now if 9ep = 0 as well, it could be all true. But then it defeats the purpose of 24ep > 23ep, 9ep > 24ep, 23ep > 9ep being true; 0 > 0 ; 0 > 0 ; 0 > 0 That's like saying 2 + x = 4, x = 2 or 1; Or better yet x > y > x. ...Weird... Really weird... I need a brain surgery to de-complicate it... ...To solve this problem, I'll just say I like these 3 episodes all the same. The first place these 3 share, which means, looking at the last comparison: 24ep > 23ep, 9ep > 24ep, 23ep > 9ep turns into 24ep = 23ep, 9ep = 24ep, 23ep = 9ep 0 > 0 ; 0 > 0 ; 0 > 0 turns into 0 = 0 ; 0 = 0 ; 0 = 0
Jaret am I going to have to demote you on the grounds of health and safety or some jazz? I don't want addled admins running this forum ^^
I really hope we do! The relationship between the owl and Spike could be like two siblings most of the time: They could get on each others nerves at time by trying to play jokes on each other, but deep down they're alright with each other.
One thing I kept wondering while watching this How do you spell Owlilicious? (if that's even close to right) Owloicious? Owlawishous?
The very first time I heard it's name I thought it was spelt "Aloysius" beleive it or not. Then there was a time in the episode it sounded like one of the ponies, Fluttershy I think, called it "Owlicious". Now I'm kind of at a crossroads about how in Equestria you say it!
Not really one of my favourites. Spike gets himself into a too big mess. Two too big messes, actually. The name of the owl is spelled Owlowliscious, by the way. (Yeah, it took a Germane to come up with this answer...)
This is probably one of my least favourite because I recently watched it for the second time and I was underwealmed, it had some funny bits, the plot was decent. But I think the lack of the other ponies took a lot of the fun out of it. But still definitely worth a watch.
I can definitely see your point but I think it was a nice change to see some focus on everyone's favourite baby dragon =P
Eh-heh. This one was a good one for me. I will admit it took me a while to catch the innuendos! At least - were they...? I can never know an innuendo if I saw one.
I thought this episode was...meh, and I'm a Spike fan. I've wanted there to be an episode that truly started the development of Spike's character. IMO, this episode fails to do so. It's just another episode dealing with jealousy. Yeah, we see him getting attention at the beginning, but with everything he's down for all of them, he deserves some appreciation every once in a while. I also didn't really like Twilight in this one. She's just let the owl in without FULLY explaining his purpose, so you can't really blame Spike feeling that his job was in danger. I did think what Spike did to frame the Owl was wrong, but at the same time, I thought Twilight was a little hard on him. To be disappointed with him is one thing, but making him feel that she doesn't love him anymore is pretty harsh. His jealousy got the best of him, with good reason. The end of this episode showed me a little bit on how much Spike means to Twilight. Yeah, we've heard her call him her #1 assistant, but did you expect her to call him her #1 friend? Especially how ungrateful she acts to his hard work at times? I sure didn't. I did think the owl was kind of cool though. I hope they keep him around in Season 2, and who knows, there could be an episode where he and Spike worked together. Overall, this episode was ok IMO, but it wasn't really the Spike episode I think he deserves.
