Honestly how they were able to mess up the audio on this that much is beyond me
meh, I get most of these videos from a user on another site you're familiar with haha Though you can thank that video for destroying aaron's speakers, dubstep started breaking them and that provided the final fatality
Yep, I have! That one has to be one of my favorite Pinkie Pie songs ever! *Starts singing "You gotta shaaaarrrre, you gotta caaaaarrrrrre..."*
Winter wrap up, winter wrap uuuuuuuppppp! But, seriously, I've never known a community that does that much. It's madness!
This episode sparked my confusion about however in the heck their ecosystem got so horrible to the point where animals with instincts were as common as Martians in the series. (That meaning the animals need to be told to do things, which is very strange.) I mean, if this show was realistic, then either the animals would have insticts or the animals would almost be extinct. It amazes me how those animals live if they don't naturally wake up from hibernation, or naturally get their own food.
Time to give this episode (with this most awesome song) some more brony attention. A couple of days ago, when I watched it for the third time, also to write about it on a German forum, I decided to take a) some time, b) this episode apart and c) a closer look at what happens. You may or may not know, but I'm a lot into background ponies, the third tier ponies who haven't been overcharacterised by bronies in particular (the flower ponies, Rainbow Day, Cloud Kicker, Twinkle, Seafoam, Linky, who-have-you). And due to the requirements of the story, this episode is chock full of them. One of the things you may or may not notice is how the kinds of ponies make up the three teams. Weather team (blue vests). Weather happens in the sky, hence the weather team starts with pegasi only. The sole exception is Pinkie Pie whose task is to break the ice on the lakes by skating on it (well, Pinkie is good at breaking the ice). It's only a lot later after Twilight's organisation set enough ponies from other teams (apparently mostly the animal team since the plant team works through the night) free that Pinkie gets some reinforcement. Leader: Rainbow Dash. Plant team (green vests). Probably earth ponies only, I haven't seen a single unicorn in a green vest. Also the only team with colts who are needed for any hard work that involves ploughs or otherwise pulling heavy objects. Also, most of the earth fillies are flower/fruit/vegetable experts. Leader: Applejack (although this scene with Linky suggests otherwise). Animal team (tan vests). Here's where things go out of hoof. Okay, yes, following the logic, this is the team for the unicorns. However, not only do we see lots of earth ponies, but most of them are already members of the plant team. Daisy, Carrot Top, Cherry, Berry Punch. Bon Bon even overdoes this by wearing a weather team vest during the mayor's speech in addition to the other two vests which makes her the only pony to wear all three vests within the first six minutes. During the climax of the song, there's a scene with six members of the plant team and the animal team each. Daisy, Cherry, Bon Bon and Berry Punch appear in both teams at the same time while the scene is completely devoid of unicorns whom one should expect to represent the animal team (except Twilight). Still not strange enough? Well, who do you think leads the team then? One should expect Fluttershy because she knows the most about hibernating animals, she's good with them, and she's a member of the mane cast. But: Fluttershy is a pegasus (the only pegasus outside the weather team, and thanks to her, the animal team is the only team in which all three kinds of ponies are present from the beginning), there's already a pegasus leading the weather team, so wouldn't a unicorn fit better, seeing as most members of the animal team are unicorns? Besides, Fluttershy's authority amounts to exactly zero (unless she uses The Stare⢠or gets angry, and it wouldn't look good if she had to stare down the whole team to get things done). Okay, Rarity then? Unicorn, mane cast? Puh-leeze, dah-ling. All that Rarity can contribute to the animal team are her fancy nests. She doesn't get dirty there. And she's not very good with animals, or they're not very good with her (*cough* Opalescence *cough*). So who's the leader then? Sparkler! A third-tier background pony. Well, in the leaders' group shot, she is standing in the background. Although you must admit that she's every bit as good at nest-making as Rarity. Is it any wonder that Ponyville has never managed to get their Winter Wrap-up done in time until that day? I already mentioned that the animal team is most likely the first to be done after Twilight took over. This means they're all free to support Pinkie Pie. Among Pinkie's new helpers are not only the notorious team jumpers from the plant team, but also half the animal team including Sparkler herself who went from team boss to ice princess. Couple more notes: This episode contains all Ditzy recolors we've ever seen. All that changes are mane and tail. This includes the other Ditzy Doo candidate. And this very name comes from this very episode. Speaking of naming characters, Caramel is named here. And speaking of Ditzy: For those who can't tell her from Cloud Kicker, the two appear next to each other right before the mayor's first speech scene when Twilight comes galloping towards the town hall. Twice. Speaking of speaking: Big Macintosh actually says something in this episode, including "Eeeyup" twice. By the way, there isn't a vest that'd fit him. This is a better episode for seeing pegasi in action than Sonic Rainboom. Just watch them clear the skies and the hills. It's the weather team, by the way, that's responsible for bringing back the birds. I mean, they could just as well have spared a pegasus or two to help Fluttershy of the animal team get them back. They would have been back in time for the sky-clearing flight. Count what's weird in this scene, including vestless Lyra's photobomb. Prominent character in this episode: Cheerilee. Soon-to-be-prominent, that is, for it was in the very next episode that both her name and her identity were confirmed in canon. We witness two brohooves in canon: Medley and Dizzy Twister, Applejack and Twilight. Last but not least: What does Colgate do in the animal team (she's a unicorn, after all)? Brushie.
Episode 11, Season 1- Winter Wrap Up I liked the episode because it showed how they turned winter to spring without using magic.
Um...I don't want to be rude but...don't we already have a thread for this? http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?18-Episode11-Winter-Wrap-Up
Yeah, pretty much. That's why your supposed to check for threads before making one. Anyways, Episode 11 was one of my favorites. Just for the song for the most part. Still doesn't compete to Episode 16 (Sonic Rainboom).
This episode brought on a different perspective about the ponys for me. It made me wonder, How do they go to winter? Do they bring out snow from the weather factory and drag it around? Just wondering, Bringing up some questions for the community.
Yeah pretty much. In the Sonic Rainboom episode they showed the Cloudsdale engineers/workers making snowflakes, so I assume they're the ones distributing it. How though, I wouldn't know.
Maybe by different kind of clouds. They have rainclouds (as seen in episode 1), lightningclouds (as seen in Gilda's and Luna's episodes)... surely they'd have snowclouds, too.
