If they were normal bullies it wouldn't be as fun. Twilight wouldn't even to need to come to earth since sunset shimmer probably could deal with bullies herself and the whole thing with the battle bands wouldn't work and then we wouldn't have the songs.
I like Adagio's evil grin that she shows several times through the movie. I wish they weren't sirens, but I guess it's not that big of a deal. They became a lot less likeable very fast. Of coarse I like Sonata the most. I don't she's overrated at all. There's a reason she's so popular amongst the community. If I could change anything in this movie, it would be to see what happens to the Dazzlings. They kind of just became insignificant and disappeared in seconds.
I agree. I think that success of the movie would be horribly challenged if they were just "harmless teenage girls" as Sparky said. If that was the case, all you'd have to do is knock the hell out of them. End of story.
I said it wasn't a big deal. I just find them horribly ugly is all. Plus it doesn't make much sense since ponies are the main species in Equestria and humans are the main species on Earth. Everything up to this point has led us to believe that ponies = humans and dragons = dogs. Who knows what these disgusting things should logically be.
Not sure about these phoenixes you're talking about but the diamond dogs look more like gorillas to me. Actually, they look like THE Gorillaz. Wait, is this a thing? *Goes to Google*
You are missing the point. Sometimes, humans are the greatest monsters of all. The concept of Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle dealing with human evil, dealing with a real-life issue that can't be solved by just blasting bolts of magical energy is intriguing to me. Spending time in the human world opens the door to address real-life issues and have Sunset and Twilight face the facts that not all humans are friendly and welcoming. The whole siren thing just ruins it. If you don't mind making a comparison (because, for some reason, an user here got really steamed the last time I did a comparison), I recently became a big fan of "Oh my Goddess". It's very similar in tone and writing to "Friendship is Magic". And the thing is, the episodes where Belldandy and Keiichi have to deal with a supernatural crisis (the Lord of Terror, Urd's evil half, that ghost girl from the end of the second season, Mara's schemes) are the least interesting to me. To me, the best episodes are the ones where Belldandy and Keiichi have to deal with real-life issues, since they address those issues in a mature yet heartwarming manner, and those are the episodes that contain valuable lessons. Like the Christmas episode where Sayoko steal Belldandy's hand-knitted sweater, and then Sayoko gives it back when Keiichi lets her know that, even though he has no interest in being in a relationship with her, he still consider her his friend. Or the episode where Sora is chosen to represent the Auto Club in a race, and Belldandy helps Sora deal with her insecurities and her fears. If the Dazzlings were humans, we would see Sunset and Twilight learn that not every human on Earth is friendly, and see how they deal with that. It's that kind of stuff that was Lauren's vision to begin with. Lauren never wanted laser battles and "the power of rock", Lauren wanted the show to address real-life issues and to teach valuable morals. Making them sirens turns it into another generic fantasy show, it completely destroys Lauren's vision.
Yeah, because mlp doesn't have enough life lessons as it is. For me the movie was about Sunset Shimmer, how she tried fitting in after what she did in the first movie. The dazzlings were just the mandatory villains. The lesson learned here is that of if you do something wrong, you can't expect people to forgive you after a week or two and that you have to make it up to those you wronged. That's a good life lesson. To many thinks that they will be forgiven for what they did almost instantly. Also,a fantasy show can have life lessons.
MorphinBrony, please STOP. Yes, I'm annoyed by Heimdall, but you yourself are going out of your way to bully and harass him, and that's just as bad. I don't "hate" Heimdall, I just wish he saved his "no headcanon, just evidence" threads for my "Science VS Magic" threads (and my "Science VS Magic" site). What you are doing is just mean, and it goes against what we bronies believe in.
Anyhoo... back on topic. Just got the DVD today and watched it with the commentary. One thing has been officially confirmed... at least for me... it's pronounced LEER-AH!!!!! After hearing several bronies say it as LIE-ra, I've been wondering that for quite some time. I've always pronounced it Leer-ah and debated whether I was right or not.
The instrument she's named after (the lyre) is pronounced "Liar," so pronouncing it as "Lie-ra" makes more sense. Also:
But... writers... pronounced... SCREW IT, I AIN'T CHANGIN'!!! @Crimson Lionheart- Can a guitarist do "The Skins" too? Not like we haven't already seen Rockette's tatas enough but still...
Of course. I'm sure nobody's disagreeing on the need to see Rockette's tatas. Well, certainly not me anyway :3
