That's right, there's a date now, and EVERYPONY can get involved! Having time to think about it, it might be unreasonable for me to get everyone together to sing live, so I've come up with an idea! And all you need is a microphone!

    Step 1: Pick a song

Can be any song that's not breaking any restrictions! (posted below)

    Step 2: Record yourself singing

You can use any method to record, either video or audio only. If you don't have a program to record yourself, you can get one free here called Audacity which is easy to use and great for all kinds of things so I'd recommend getting it anyway!

Step 3: Upload a video to youtube

Make a video using any video making software (sorry, no free link this time) and upload it to youtube, or upload to mediafire and send the download link directly to us at the radio by either posting here on the thread or a PM to me!

Entries will be rejected after 30th of October so we can upload them all, then on 5th November, the radio will play all the videos! So let's all hear you guys singing!

    Here are the song restrictions:

    -No Excessive Swearing
-Pony songs are NOT required but would be appreciated
-Multiple entries are allowed, but not all will be accepted depending on time restraints

    Simples, no?

EDIT: Answering some of the questions below!

What we'd like you to do is create a video of you (or a group) singing the karaoke song. You can include the original music in the background, or just have your voice, as long as it's a video we can upload. Once the video is created, either upload it to youtube or the raw video file to mediafire and post a link here, or PM me directly with the youtube/mediafire link.

Videos can come from any source, be it camera, ipad, webcam or mobile phone camera as long as the quality is usable (judged at the DJs discretion)

UPDATE: The day has been moved back to 5th of November, the first Saturday of the month so more people can view and enjoy it!

I'm so excited for this! Thank you so much for opening this opportunity up to the entire site! It should be interesting to see songs everypony else chooses. Now to find five other bronies to do the group songs from the show with me. Not to mention I should narrow down my list of songs to submit. Finding some video editing software would be useful too. Onwaaaaaaaaard!

Uh....will iPod videos work? I know the video quality would be crap, but the audio gets through well enough. I don't have a mic but I'd really like to do it. I'll put it on YouTube too....just wondering...

Cool it's going to happen on January 11, 2012. :derpe:

Kidding. I know it's on November 1, 2011, but some wouldn't know. I'd like to participate but I rather just so some karaoke live with people on forums.

Although we need to figure out how to set up my Ventrilo Event to host a live karaoke session. Since everyone comes at different times.
Also, since Ventrilo has a record function I could probably just record the whole session/song and make a video or something.

The Problem with that, DRD, is that there are barely any converters for .vtf extensions.

Skype has many different recorders that save it as .mp3, so if we were to do something, we could probably do it there, as much as you hate Skype.

Negative. I still prefer Ventrilo is terms of simpleness. Not to mention *insert opinion here about Skype*

I can get it to a playable audio file...hopefully...

I tried getting Vent, even without me having a mic. It was too complicated, so I guess I won't be using that....oh well...

You really think Ventrilo is that complicated? It is simple seriously. If you need help you could ask me the one who knows most about Ventrilo or someelse that knows a bit about it if I'm not around.

It's as easy as Skype, you guys aren't just used to using Ventrilo as I am, and your first impression is..."omgwtfbbqsauce, this is complicated."

Give it a try, even if you think it is hard or not.

    Error #2: I just realized that it isn't even November 2011, it's 2012 :Trollestia:

    Might want to fix that.

Okay, having been a veteran of Vent for ~7years due to a recently quit WoW addiction, I can safely say that Skype is actually a tad easier and more functional. In addition to the option of having voice or not, the text is always present and available for those that don't want to or can't use voice. It is much easier to find on Skype then vent, and does not require a separate window pop up. I will agree that the push-to-talk on Vent is handy at times, because there are plenty of times where I would have been annoyed if things that were happening in my background went through, like they would on Skype. But, honestly, I find Skype to be much more functional and useful, although Vent does have its place and is very good for what it does.

    Skype: Pros and Cons
Pros: Free, many rooms without leaving, easier text-based communication, ability to not join voice
Cons: Hard to ignore due to flashing, no push to talk

    Vent: Pros and Cons
Pros: Push to talk, ability to have different channels
Cons: Servers aren't free, text communication is hard, different servers can not be had at the same time, must be in voice if signed in

Probably missing a few here, but that's how I see it. I prefer Vent for gaming, Skype for friends.

    My point exactly.

I'm also a vent veteran. (Maybe we should make a group out of that) From a not-so-recent addiction to WoW.)
The only time I would ever use Vent was when I was raiding or doing PvP in Wow.

I used Skype for basically everything else.

You can dual vent, just set PTT buttons differently, if you have two aliases.

I don't have a Youtube... Darn, would've really wanted to sing. If anypony cares to do it for me, I'd love you to near-death if you did a cover of 'The Cave' by Mumford & Sons...

^ That'd be a nice song to do, I just need to find an instrumental version. I was actually gonna do a Gorillaz song, but "The Cave" is great!
