    Hello there.

On the General Chat, we had an idea, an idea to make a live or a Pre-recorded Podcast about MLP with some people from this site.

We wanted to start watching the episodes together and just talk about it while watching. At least thats for starters. We also could play games or something like that, just to make a little advertising for the site on youtbe.

I just want to know if this would be okay with the admins, we also could pre-record everything to show it beforehead.

And if anyone happens to have an idea or wants to participate, please let me know!

So wait, are we talking about pre-recording them to have them play on EPR?
Technically I don't think there'd be a problem with that as long as the commentary is kept within the site's rules.

I'd recommend contacting Foxytail and/or Grey Knightmare directly and discuss this with them in person.
In the meantime I'll relay this thread to them for ya ;3

I'll tell you now if we ever were to do it, it would be on a strict rotation.

Having a set team would be just as alienating as if staff were doing it, so it really doesn't matter who thought of or suggested this.. If it's a community thing it should to the credit and benefit of exactly that: the community, not a handful of individuals.

in retrospect it would make more seance to have it as a youtube channel in support of the site (would save on allot of planing)

i sign that. Its much easier to make a channel for this on YT. Its also much easier to organize.

And i also would sign the idea of having a set team for this, maybe we could feature some guests from time to time, but i think there should be at least 4 set members, one of them with the skill and ability to edit videos would be great, but just in case i could learn a bit about editing videos if needed, not that there would be much to edit though, maybe some cuts or smaller effects.

Just don't jump the gun, no one has given this the all clear yet.

I honestly can't say I support it, having a presenting team would make it no different than having the staff present it. You're still making a hierarchy, intentional or not; it won't be a "community" podcast any more than a staff one would.

And even if that wasn't the intention we're not allowed to play the episodes, so you'd have to do it "blind"/blank screened. Which would make an already generic idea much less appealing.

I have to agree with Grey on the episode commentaries. Not to be rude, but youtube is filled with them, and it's basically just watching the episode with people talking over it.

A podcast though... I'm sort of 50/50. I like the idea, but I'm unsure of a way to make it community run... in my opinion, it couldn't happen without at least one set person to record/edit/produce every single one, otherwise it couldn't reliably be done (in my opinion). I will think about it and maybe talk around the site for a general view of it, but I can't say I support it at this very moment. Still, I do see the appeal in the idea, so we'll get back to you.

As I see it, doesn't the Floxy broadcast every other Friday sort of function as a podcast on its own? I can't see much difference between an EP Live Podcast and what's already up and running, unless you're suggesting it to be more community-driven?
