Hey there! I was wondering, has anypony any advice how to do this? My parents are tolerant of me watching the show. I've explained a couple of times to my dad it's awesome and many adults like it. But I still sense some misunderstanding, especially from my mom. I want to make clear liking this show isn't a step back in my maturity... but don't really know where to start. I'm also worried what they might think when they find out about hater's interpretations of bronies (immature, perverted, etc). How did you guys do it? Please share your story.
mmmmm.....said it to my parents.....they dont know yet XD (closet brony *shame face*) I feel so insecure to tell them about my passion.....Im scary that they.....well, thats enought, sorry for bother.. Maybe some day, I told them....
Explain the inside jokes, comics, good moral messages, and adult humor. I think the most striking thing was the detail--both in the story and the animation. Everything else just seemed appealing after that.
Explain? Ponies? BWAHAHAHAHA- *ahem* In a normaler (that's a word now) situation i would try it the way reccomended by others, but for now i lock my computer and hide it all.
Frankly this isn't much of a problem. My mom wants me to teach her how to play WoW. And Minecraft. (Silly parents).
well, reply to first post: if I was in your place, I would just say: "look, I like it, and many other peoples my age, older and younger, like it. if you give me a chance, let me show you". Then show her/them one more "hardcore" episode (Luna Eclipse, Lesson Zero, Party Of One, Feeling Pinkie Kenn etc.), and say, that's why I like this show so much. I'd suggest Luna Eclipse, for simple reason that when it was airing (me, sister and dad watched it live via online stream), and dad was cracking up whole time, and said that was THE best episode he's ever seen (and he saw most of season 1 (but not all) and all season 2 (always watching with me and sister when he's around)). So yeah, since I suppose my dad is closer by age to your parents, it might be the one episode that's the winner .
me:mum i like mlp.kthnx bai mumk, seemsabit girly for you me:it is ,but omnyly the new 4 th genration is good mumk and thats how i told her
can somepony help me? im on vetenary school and their has been times that i nearly got caught in the act watching episodes in the classroom. i dont know how i can show them how awesome is the show without them going crazy over me. my classmates are the typical party lovers, they go to various ranches to get all boozed up and go all rodeo over there (for what i´ve overheard)and even they laugh about the most weirdest things. i needs help
Oh, yes. Make sure they know it's Friendship is Magic and not anything prior. You could try leaving a picture of Rainbow Dash lying around and see how anyone reacts to it.
My parents don't know, but it really doesn't matter. Their judgment towards me has been off since I was 8 years old. Everyone I have told though, I had to convince them to give the show a chance before making a judgment. Everyone who has given it a chance likes it. I'm glad I found this forum because I needed a place to fuel my raging fandom inside. Must....talk...PONIES!
Yeah Right on telling my parents the truth. Sure they see the wallpaper on my computer but they have no idea what it suppose to be. Keeping it that way, since they already accept on the levels of my weirdness. I acted like idiot for the most part in my life but hey? That's what makes me and they have to live with it. Tell them that i watch this show would probably make their heads explode. I had trouble in the past with this habit of weirdness but this can not be spoken out of my presents to them.
Like I mentioned in the Gay thread: Whether you like ponies or not, is irrelevant to you. If it's a mutually enjoyed topic that's wonderful. Otherwise, it's just something to be a fan of, like a band, and should have no impact on how people perceive or interact with you if they do not share the interest.
well, about my bronyness, i don't really tell my mom about it, but i don't really think she'll mind, she treats me like i'm 6
I told mum basically by showing her welovefine, and a couple of shirts I'd like to buy. She said if i got them, she wouldn't be able to sleep at night, so i told her a bit about the new generation, and how its changed.A lot. And now I might be getting shirts! Double whammy!
i think what really showed tyhem how it changed was i had a wallpaper of the mane 6 in the ackground of my laptop and when they borrowed it when they went away for a nght(so they could watch a film) they saw how the characters look idfferent
