Theory Rant: Every fanbase has a bad apple. And when someone does a rather shoddy impersonation of them, someone's going to get offended. And guess what, they're being offended because that's the reality. Biggest examples of what's a "Too Dedicated Fans" are Directioners and K Poppers. Why is because they would get into a verbal argument over something so petty. Then again, the aforementioned have been known to fight because 1D steals crap from others(Including a picture from BAP). What makes it more apparent, when they taunt someone to find them in real life so they can duke it out. Another examples are the BVB Army(They're known to calmly deal with haters and trolls) and the SGTC(Sad reality, I know). When threatened, some resort to making bomb threats, death threats, and telling others to commit suicide(Mostly Directioners and Beliebers. And I'm talking about the VAST MAJORITY). Anime fans are also known to do the same thing, to even undermine something that they would hate(Disney). When these fans turn aggressive, they become the scourge of an entire generation, making the calm and mature ones leave a fanbase altogether because of their incorrigible behavior. If you have opinions on this, comment. But DO NOT attack me because this is the truth. I've seen it plenty of times to the point of that it's sad. What fanbase do you think is the best, or the worst? As usual, only constructive comments. As this is a sensitive subject, I ask that a lot of you try to be a little tolerant of other views. Sorry if this seems a bit soft hearted, but I don't want to be that type of person that everyone hates because of pointing out reality.
Bronies, furries, and whovians stand out to me as the fandoms with some of the most immature people in them. Keep in mind, I'm a part of all 3.
Animes fans: I just sit back and watch the sparks fly on those forums. Bronies: Started off the best. Probably the worst now. Unfortunately, I'm still involved. Well, just this forum really, but probably not much longer. Halo fans: This was the worst of it's time. No matter what you said ever, even if it was a good thing, you would get shot down. I left years ago.
All of them. There's not a single large fanbase that doesn't have those kinds of fan. The brony fanbase is pretty bad about it, though. Posting MLP related content everywhere it doesn't belong, getting offended when people don't like FiM, trying to "recruit people" to the "herd", passively challenging people to question their "right" to watch the show; this stuff made me drop the Brony label long ago. Anime has its group of weaboos, who think anime is just like real Japan, and they begin to use bits of Japanese culture that they don't understand. It's cute when kids do that, not so much with adults. When I hear people from the states/the UK who've never been to Japan argue that Japan is totally better, I die a little inside.
I said all fanbases have some fans like this. Not that all fans of every group are like this. EDIT: Whoops! I forgot how to reading comprehension for a bit there. I misunderstood and thought you were saying all anime fans in general. Sorry!
Certainly not. I don't mind them as long as they don't go around and shove KAWAII-DESU-NE HAHA SUPA HAPPY FUNTIME JAPAN SO AWESOME YAAAAA stuff down my throat every 5 minutes.
Hahaha that would be quite annoying. I haven't met any anime fans that are actually like that, though.
Bronies, Whovians, Furries and Homestuck fans. In that order. Just because you love it, and treat it like a lifestyle, doesn't mean everyone does. Stop shoving it down throats.
How could I forget Homestuck? *facepalm* Luckily, it's been a while since I've come across annoying fans.
Bronies, Potterheads, different musical genres... I could go on and on but I'll break it off there!!! Agreed. Every 'group' of people has the fanatical ones and the more reserved ones. Of course, if someone asked if I was a brony, I really don't know what I would say.
Anime: I had just about enough of them when I asked about why I came to an anime related video from a Disney video. I get hate, insults, and just plain immaturity. K Pop: It looks like this: "OMG. I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT MY BIAS. WHERE HE LIVES, WHEN HE SLEEPS, WHAT COLOR HIS BOXERS ARE, FAMILY, PETS, LIKES, DISLIKES, PHOBIAS, IDEAL GIRLS, AND EVERYTHING!!! HE IS MY HUSBAND. WE WILL LIVE TOGETHER UNTIL THE END OF TIME!" Directioners and Beliebers: Enough said.
This made me laugh far more than it probably should have! Anyway, I don't think I can say much more than has already been said. Every fandom has its nuts, I would wager 1D is the worst though, a terrifying number of their fans are actually borderline psychotic. There was a charity football (soccer) match on a couple of weeks ago for a former player who was raising funds to help people suffering from leukemia, something he himself had (and may possibly still have) and forced him to retire from the game. One of the band members played and was forced off with an injury. The 1D fans took to Twitter and actually sent the footballer who tackled him death threats and didn't quite seem to grasp that people have to be tackled if they want to get the ball, no one will let them run about with it because they are a celebrity. Now, what really got to me was the fact things like '#LouisOurHero' and '#StayStrongLouis' were trending. Okay, first of all, he hobble off with a light injury, he's fine. Secondly, the Directioners have managed to make somewhat of a mockery of the day. Thirdly, its ironic that they send death threats to someone, one specifically hoping the player "dies of cancer", when you think about why that Gabriel Agbonlahor (the player who tackled him) and Louis Tomlinson were playing that day. And finally, those hashtags, Louis suffered a nudge, got up and walked off. Stiliyan Petrov (the player who organised this game) is beating leukemia, where are the stay strong hastags for him? They managed to take the event and turn it around into all about 1D and showcasing why far too many of their fans once again should not have internet access. Rant over.
