Yesterday, Ripp was banned from the stream for posting a link to something he had programmed, something he had been warned repeatedly not to do. In response to this, he posted a thread saying he was going to leave because a certain DJ hated him. After replying to this thread explaining the situation, Ripp decided that the best course of action would be to PM the DJ tellhing him that he had had no previous warnings (despite being banned for it in the past) and that he had actively programmed a bot to kick him from the RP room that he is hosting for the site. After all of this, he tried to evade his ban on the stream. Because of this, Ripp has been banned from the forums and stream chat permanently. As community manager, this was a hard decision to come down to, but in the end, Ripp had brought it on himself. I know many ponies here were good friends with him and are sad to see him go, but the rules must be enforced, and he repeatedly broke them. Having to permanently ban ANYONE is a sign of someone that didn't follow the rules and as unfortunate as it is, it has come down to this. Farewell Ripp. I'm sorry we couldn't work this out, but you've brought it on yourself.
Thanks for clearing that up, Foxy. So much happens on the forums and chat that it's sort of hard to keep up on everything... Fair winds, Ripp....
I can't say I approve of this, but in this case, I think he took the whole thing too far. *raises toast* To Ripp. Be free like the wind.
i'm sad that it had to come to this, but rules are rules. Farewell Ripp_, hope our paths will cross again
My God, that's monstrous! I've never heard of anything so negligent. What a shame the fellow couldn't be saved....
Auf wiedersehen, Ripp. Thanks for inspiring me to learn a bit of Python. It's sad to see you leave, but as Foxy says, rules are rules.
Don't really know what to say, myself... I had hoped he would have been able to take things better than he did. We are lesser for his loss, I believe. He wasn't in the best state of mind last I spoke to him, so I do worry about the ramifications of this action. Ripp had a lot to offer - he still does, but it is a shame we won't see him around here. I could argue, but I won't as I understand the circumstances - doesn't make things any better. Goodbye, Ripp. Take care of yourself.
Hey man, that's not cool at all. He may have broken the rules, but calling him a moron is a bit much.
I really didn't know Ripp, but it's always a bit sad to have some one kicked out, even when we give them plenty of warnings. I hate kicking people out at work, especially if they're not being intentionally difficult. And, since I didn't know Ripp, I don't know how intentionally difficult he was being, although it does sound like he was being a bit of a problem. Ah, well. Good luck, wherever you are.
I still have him on Skype, although it's of course a shame it had to come to this. The only positives I can draw from this, is that I hope other users can learn for this, so we will never have to see something like this happen again.
That's a real shame. I never got the chance to know Ripp_ too well, but from what I saw, he was a genuinely good guy. I didn't know much about the recent events that have taken place, but it's a real shame that it had to come to this. You know it's serious when it's a permanent banning on Everypony. These things seem so rare around here. Ripp_, it's a real shame that your time on here was cut short. Maybe one day, far off in the future, we'll see you again. I've seen it on other boards when a member was permanently banned, but if he/she was gone for a very long time (months, at least, maybe even a year) and proved that he/she understood the reason(s) for the ban, then he/she was given another chance, depending on the reputation the user had outside of the infraction. I don't know if such a policy is enacted here, as permanent bans on here are, fortunately, rare, but it'd be nice if it doesn't truly end this way. Of course, that's an administrator's call, and even reputable users aren't above the rules. Goodbye, Ripp_.
I'm sorry to see that this all had to resolve in a banning. I do worry about him, as he sounded like he was showing some potential signs of depression the few times I saw him. I hope he's able to move on and learn from this experience. I'll miss his script for EPR that told you what song was playing. Ripp_, fairfarren.
