Here are some comics I did for a forum elsewhere on the Internet some years ago, now cleaned up and colored. I'll include as much context below as I can so that you have at least a vague understanding of what's happening, but I'd like to point out that if you don't get anything that's going on, that's okay too. :D

    Cast of Characters
    (In Order of Appearance)

CIRCE: A sorceress of the "I fail at being evil" variety, specializing in transformations. This isn't the same mythological character, just someone who was given the name due in part to her abilities. "Friends", if one could call it that, with Callista. Reacts poorly to being mocked or downgraded.

Visually she's based on someone from a NSFW Japanese visual novel, something that neither I nor Circe's creator knew about until almost a decade after her first appearance. The less said about any of that, the better.

DES: Short for "Dio's Evil Snowman", he's less "evil" and more "annoying". He can sometimes be seen wandering around in the background (or pretty much anywhere, really) selling tutti-frutti ice cream. Has an obsession with Neko-, whom he calls 'George'; this should sound familiar to anyone who's watched enough Looney Tunes.

If I remember the context correctly, DES is based on photographs of a snowman that his creator's child had made.

BLISS: A humanoid fox-cat and the living embodiment of bliss. Callista's sister in all but name, and they tend to trade the "wise guy and straight man" roles depending on who's being the most off-the-wall. Has a variety of supernatural abilities and possesses a sentient tail (no, I'm not making this up), and is rarely ever seen without some sort of alcohol, most commonly stolichnaya.

Bliss's appearance is based on Xiaomu, who originated in Namco X Capcom and later turned up in Project X Zone and the Endless Frontier series. Also, it should be noted that Bliss's creator had stopped going to Fukufics years before I first worked on the comics, so they're very much AU in that regard.

CALLISTA: A former felinoid mutant superhero turned quirky adolescent shopaholic. Has something of a... well, we'll be polite and just call it a "reputation" around those parts. Circe is an occasional tenant at an apartment she owns. Loves puns. Explaining her would take WAY too long, trust me, but you can get a decent idea of her personality from her appearance here.

Calli's appearance is based on Azumanga Daioh's Tomo Takino, and she acts as my avatar over at Fukufics and here at EP. Useless trivia: when I created her in 2007, it was on-the-spot and I didn't have a good idea of what she looked like, so I searched around a bit on the Internet for a decent likeness I could use. I found out later that the one I selected had been referred to as "The Wildcat High School Girl", so things worked out great. >^_^<

NEKO-: A black cat who's functionally immortal. Switches genders (and species) per a Jusenkyo curse he has, which also vastly increases his moveset. Hates DES. Hates hugs by DES. Hates the color purple (and especially this guy). Hates a lot of other stuff. Is fireproof.

To my knowledge, Neko- isn't based on anything aside from the most obvious.

As for Spamville itself, it's basically a chaotic mashup of entertainment in general: video games, anime, Western cartoons, you name it.

That's enough context. ON TO THE COMICS!

In Part One, Callista leaves a trail of destruction (and shopping) for Circe to follow.

The "Brotherhood HQ" sign is a reference to one of Spamville's major factions that caused trouble during the forum's early days. A handful of leaders, an army of mooks of multiple types, and barely any competence between them; while they attacked their enemies whenever the opportunity presented itself, they were far more likely to attack themselves for no real reason.

And no, I don't know who "Ahkbar" is. If I remember my history correctly, there was a weapons shop with his name on it that had a tendency to explode whenever it appeared. If such a character truly existed in Spamville, he was gone before I got there, leaving behind a running gag that persisted for years.

In Part Two, Bliss and Callista have a discussion over what constitutes right and wrong.

For those not from the USA, the "She's Not a Crook" sign at the bottom of the comic is a reference to former President Richard Nixon. Tail-chan has a twisted sense of humor.

In Part Three, not-so-righteous payback ensues.

Neko-'s complete uncaringness for what just happened to Calli and Bliss always gets me no matter how many times I get back to reading this. >^_^<

And that's everything. Ciao mein, everyone!
