I know I haven't posted in a while, but school and work were calling.... I'm going to post this at the MLP Arena as well, but I thought that perhaps a few customizers in the bunch may be able to assist with a really seemingly silly question. I began working on restoring my pony collection today (I took to washing a few and making lists and things), and on my list of things that need to be done to some is a rehairing/tailing process. Now, I know that those who are experienced in this use things like at this link or some kind of felting needle: http://www.dollyhair.com/reroottool.htm My question as it is, is that I'm left-handed, which means that I have to work backwards from most other people. I don't want to buy a big, bulky kind of tool and not be able to use it properly, as most of my real strength is in my right hand. So I found this link online (below) and was wondering if it could be the same thing, except on a smaller scale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-root-...688?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588e3fc418 This looks like a rehairing tool that I'd be able to work with a lot easier, but if it won't work, I'm not going to waste the money buying it. I wanted to get the yay or "neigh" (pun intended) from those who have done this before. Also, if this is in the wrong part of the forum, please move it, as this looked like it was the closest place to post such a topic. Thanks! Amanda
I know this is a bit old but hey, it is still on the first page. I am reluctant to buy items on ebay that will break and need replacement parts. But as to Dolly Hair, you don't need to buy from there. It is a really easy tool. After seeing it, I literally put it together in the matter of seconds. That tool is $15. But you can spend much less. The tool is a bit chuck and needle. I happened to have a very small bit chuck on me and I grabbed a needle. I used needle nose pliers to cut the eye of the needle in half at a slight angle. I do have a metal file and can reshape it if I want. How much is a bit chuck? About $6. http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Drill-Ch...d=1362561398&sr=1-2&keywords=mini+drill+chuck A chuck is used to hold in drill bits. A mini one is used for models and things. The drill bits are needle size and smaller. You can get 60 needles for $5 on amazon and probably cheaper at a store that sells sewing items or Target... They are charging $1 for a needle that is just pennies. So there you go! I am also left handed and the chuck works just fine for me.
