Geocaching! A global sport that is easy to play, and easy to get hooked on! I'm wondering if anypony here has heard of it. It's a game where people hide small containers around the world, (Local people obviously) And then place little treasures in it. Nothing really expensive, but something to just say, "I was here". A log book is also placed inside and every time you find one of these Little Geocaches, you write your name down in them!

I started Geocaching about 2 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since, My family go out every now and again. We've found about 10-12 Geocaches already. Sometimes you find little things called Travel Bugs. Travel bugs are little metal trinkets that you are allowed to take out of the Geocache, but you have to put it back in a different one. Hence the name. I've seen travel bugs that have been all over the world, South Africa, Australia, America, Europe, even Asia!! You also get Geocoins, now THOSE things are cool. You are allowed to keep them if you find them. They are either wooden or gold coins with the Geocaching logo on them. People hide one away in a cache, and then challenge others to find it and track it down.

Are you hooked yet? If not, I should tell you that to find a geocache, all you have to do is go onto www.geocaching.com And search for look for a cache in your area, you'll then be given a rough location, and be given clues to find it. Just like a Pirate searching for his hidden booty! And the best part is they are almost everywhere! I can guarantee that there is one stuck onto a sign outside your local walmart perhaps. Or one in a local zoo. They are everywhere!!

Interested yet? If so. Let the hunt begin!!!

Huh there's like 30 of these under 5 miles away from where I stand. Must go find one.

Edit: Apparently there's two at the end of my road o_O

There are rules as you probably know, you are only allowed to take a maximum of two things out of a Geocache, and you have to replace them with two other little trinkets :p

I tried geocaching when I was in Scouts...it was infuriating. I'm so bad at looking around for brown containers in a forest. :p

I do have a geocache coin though.

This brought up weird vague memories of watching a show or something about geocaching, I reckon it's an awesome idea, I love these sort of social experiment type things (leaving a camera in a box is one my favourites). Turns out there's one 5-10min walk down the road from me, I might try to find it this arvo after work.

Wow, these things are everywhere... there are some here. It would be fun to put something really strange inside, like a rusty shiv. :omg:

Not necessarily some are hidden behind sign posts using magnets, (Really small ones) others are hidden in trees, or even up chimneys, basically anywhere where it's okay for a person to look for them
