If there is already a thread on this, then close this. I want to know your opinions on saying stuff like everyPONY and the naming of certain places. In real life and in the show. I even find it a bit stupid to say it in the show. I would know what they meant if they just said everybody. Everypony doesn't even apply to all of the creatures there, so if there were, they would (for example) have to say everypony, everycow, everydragon etc... I also don't really like the names of towns (and cities that the fandom makes) Ponyville? (humanville?) It makes it seem like it only serves to one race. And other cities like Manehatten,Fillydelphia, Las Pegasas etc... are also a bit dump imo. I know that it's just to be a parody of said cities, but couldn't they have come up with more interesting names? Maybe you shouldn't take this seriously, I seem to rant on every little possible thing.
So basically you're complaining that MLP is a show based on self-reference, and that makes it worse? Yes and Yes.
I get what you're saying, but honestly it never bothered me. The only thing that sort of bothers me is inconsistency. Like, they accidently do say "everybody" at times. As for the location names, i think they're amusing, but nothing else. ~Moved to Story Discussion~
I think the town names are funny in a cheesy kind of way Yet I must admit that whenever I hear the term "everypony" it makes me cringe a bit. Not really sure why either... maybe it just sounds childish xD
I think this kind of jokes are funny I don't have any problem with them... also Y like "everypony", my personal opinion
I've seen a theory on this before saying it's sort of like the french "ils" and "elles." In french, "ils" is referring to a group of people and "elles" is referring to a group of girls, but there's no word for a group of boys. This is displayed as "everypony" and "everyone," being everypony when talking about ponies and everyone when talking about anything else. The only thing that disproves this is that "everypony" is often used to describe Spike too...so... Spike is best pony?
I think it is kind of cheesy, but I've gotten so used to it by now that I hardly even notice whether they say everypony or everybody...
We're forgetting that it's a little girls' show. I'm sure a little girl likes it when they say everypony and they have silly location names.
Hang on, I've just noticed something. This is a thread about people disliking the use of the word 'everypony'.... on a forum called 'everypony.com'.
I just think it's cute. And the location names are hillarious in my opinion, despite, Ponyville is a reference to earlier generations.
