Ok so I've come into a bad problem. I'm new here so I'll explain in general. At weekends (when booked) I'm a rave DJ. I'm also music producer (UK Hardcore / Happy Hardcore) this has now become full time thing....not by choice. Just over 2yrs ago I lost my day job due to the UK recession & I'm still out of a day job despite applying for jobs every week <<< That's another story! During the week in general I look for work / apply & write music and DJ at event when I booked. BUT the problem I have is that during the week I get up between 8-9am but I don't go to bed till between 1-3am! An I can't break this cycle. Because I use PCs a lot for music production I suffer with headaches an recently I had a 4 day migraine which really worried me about my health (only ever had them for a day one before) & I'm not most active for fitness or good eating type person. Any tip on how to break this slip / active & bad eating cycle? "sorry for the depressing post"
Exercise? I'm never surprised to find out that people who say they have problems with staying up all night are people who don't exercise. If you wake up at reasonable morning hours (8AM), and you're unemployed, get in a serious workout. Burn the energy. If you eat 3500 calories in a day (if you say you aren't eating well), you need to burn it somehow or else you will be up all night. P.S. This isn't a "depressing" post, it is just about health. That said, however, it probably isn't a good idea to talk about depression on these forums.
I'm having the same problem as well but, I can deal with it. You could always force yourself to eat at the correct times, also have lots of rest. Sorry if this isn't much of help, I'm just used to this problem as well and I just deal with it.
1 suggestion (This is how I actually worked around this problem (I was staying up till 7 or 8 am and getting up at 3 or 4 pm)): Stay 1 night and 1 day awake. Like, from Monday 9 am to Tuesday 9 pm. IT is definitely a bit harder than it sounds, but it will give you a decent 12 hour sleep. And most likely will make you go to bed before midnight. Another thing is to start working on your music an hour or two earlier than usual, so you could go to sleep earlier. You can always go training in the morning - it really frees the soul.
Haha, exactly what I was about to say. ;P Besides that, try taking a somewhat hot bath with some relaxing music in the background. That helped me fall asleep whenever I had a bad case of Insomnia, which was about a week ago. Or you could go for the classic "Warm Milk w/ a Spoon of Honey" cure as well.
Meh Insomnia gets to all of us, but yeah... I normally fall to sleep and wake up 12 hours prior to the next day/when I wake up. CONFOUND THESE PONIES!
Thanks for the advice I've stayed away for well over 24 hrs before then going to sleep an I feel terrible after lol
if you go up to 4 days without sleep, you will begin to hallucinate 5 days, breaking out in spots and horrible skin ondition, not to mention crankiness 7 or more, your brain will start to deteriorate and if you go up to 11,lets say you wont wake up if you go to sleep
I usually go to bed at about 3-4am and wake up at around 7-8am. Not healthy at all. And I miss meals all the time. There was actually a tip on how to get back into a decent sleeping routine. It had something to do with fasting for like 14 hours before when you would LIKE to fall asleep. I can't remember the details, I'm afraid. I'm sure if you google it, it shouldn't be that hard to find.
I would suggest a couple of things. Like Manhattanite said, try exercise, even if its just a 30 minute walk around town. Second, after a couple of hours on the computer - FORCE yourself to take a break. If I plan on being on the computer for a long time, I set a timer for about two hours, and when that timer goes off, I push myself away from the computer (helps to have a wife that reminds you), and go do something else. Same thing with eating - set an alarm to make sure you eat every few hours. They say eating something small every two hours is good, but I still prefer to have a meal (about 1000 calories, but I'm trying to loose weight), space about six hours apart - eat when I get up, eat about six hours later, dinner six hours after that, more or less, I can't drop everything and eat, of course, work would be very upset. It's hard at first, but as time goes along, it gets easier to do.
i wanst trying to comfort,im known for brutal honesty when needed, like a fact machine and if you go long enough without sleep, you turn into luprony`s avatar, except not a pony, and no drugs
and with my sleep,i stay up till midnight, wake up quarter to 8,but on days i have school its 11 till quarter to 7 but if i miss mealtimes,i begin to get an aidy feeling in my stomah wih make me foul mooded, short tempered, and worse then pinkie pie in party of one
You need to try commuting yourself to getting to bed early. It will be hard the first 2 or 3 nights, but those will be the only nights it will be hard. After a couple of weeks, your body will have adjusted to your new routine. It doesn't matter if you lie awake in bed, or if you read or listen to music (not too loud!) because you're still resting, and letting your body settle down for the night. With the food issue, you just have to research into healthier food options, and stock up your cupboards! I don't know if you live with your fiance or not, but see if you can get her to make you a decent meal or two during the week.
om not sure whether to be creeped out,lol at that,or ask for you to post a pic to see if it really is that bad
Thanks for all the advice. I say food wise I'm not bad in a way I eate take out all time, intact the last time I had take out was 3 months ago. I just dont eat things like fruit / veg. I eat a lot of stuff like fajetas, enchalarders & home made curry an the odd micro pizza :/
