Well since I couldn't find a tech sub topic I guess I would post here since its unrelated (as you already know). I'm currently building my own pc and I need to choose the GPU unit and I need some insight on this GPU http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0385949 I was told to wait since the Nvidia gtx 660 is going to be released soon (about a week) and the Nvidia gtx 650 will be released in September 17th. So should I wait for those GPU to come out or just get this one I don't feel like waiting and it probably wont be released in stores (The store I go sells it cheaper and give better deals and stuff.) Any advice would be helpful. I have a Z77 DS3h motherboard with an Intel i5 3570k processor. Thanks.
My 4890 ATI card and early i5 cpu blows through anything I throw at it, so I'd - currently - swear by them. The card you linked to seems decent enough and considerably cheaper than an equal Nvidia card. However some do argue Nvidia is better and I can't fault that, as I've never felt the need to try one.. It has Direct X 11 support and seems to benchmark at 40FPS on modern games. It's not fantastic and will need replacing in eventually but it'll definitely run anything to come in the next 2-3 on the higher settings, five years on medium, I would think. Just make sure you have the right connections and space on your motherboard - you may also want to consider an i7 as a i5 may or may not become the bottleneck against that card. Adequate RAM/PSU too. EDIT: On second thoughts, I HAVE had the odd driver issue with my ATI card but its usually nothing too serious and is easily fixed, but I hear Nvidia is more stable, if that helps you decide.
Dude, don't get an AMD card. Please dont. Their drivers always suck ass, just get an NVidia card like the gtx 660 or 670. At least they release good drivers to start out with. I originally was getting a AMD 7xxx series card (7970) but I saw how bad the drivers were, and still are. I was using a 6770 and the drivers were still pretty bad. So I just went with NVidias gtx 680 We also need to know what you are doing with the cards. If you want to play at really high resolutions (over 1920x1080) then go for AMD. If you just play at 1920x1080 or below, go for NVidia . And try to go for a card that is manufactured by Sapphire because they often include a load of accessories that may come useful. I also always loved the fan/heatsink config they use. And if possible, don't get a reference card. And if you are willing to pay like 10-20 dollars more, go for a overclocked/superclocked version. But if you already have experience in overclocking, just get any and OC it from there. If you really are going to get AMD, get a 7850. That card seems to have plenty of power, and many of my friends own it and say its more than good enough for gaming.
