In another world... A whole other universe... The ponies of Peneia were facing a crisis, one which brought about the end of the world. Magic itself has exploded, and tore the world into sections. Now, with monsters pouring from the cracks... what is there to do in the remaining days? So uh... yeah... who wants me to run another group game?
I was into it from the title alone. >Campaign Ah man this is going to be epic. >The Remaining Days That just sounds awesome by itself.
Ahem... of course, that means I would be the GM. Tee-hee... Anyway, it would go by my usual rules of characters, players, rolls, etc, etc... but I think I'll run it kind like Game Night where the rolls don't really take place in the explanations. It feels more immersive... I guess. So yes, Peneia, (which is actually the name of a pony breed,) a world that has gone though technology far past what Equestria's at in the show, when the ponies inhabiting the world found a greater source of magic. These energy stone, dug up from far beneath Peneia's surface, got merged with the technology that was made, turning naturally-made magic into batteries for smaller devices. Most of the devices used were for utility, but as soon as greed became a more prominent factor, and weapons were manufactured, the magic sources of the world became angered and over-loaded. The world then became split by powerful energies, and strange places have began popping up. Jungles filled with strange monsters and giant plants... volcanoes with flying scaled beasts that scared off even the dragons that lived there before, and even more anomalies, like floating islands and moving icebergs. The ponies of the world that survived live in the "wastes," where there is little food and water. Settlements are often made close to one of the dangerous areas, only so that the most daring or desperate of ponies could travel into these dangerous areas to scavenge for food and/or water. What, however, will the ponies of Iron Gate do, when the monsters of the forest become hungry, and begin to scavenge their settlement? What about the bandit ponies who come and steal their hard-found food, water, and weapons? Each day grows longer... harder... and closer to an inevitable end in this new world beyond the apocalypse.
For this one, instead of using the base classes, I'll be looking to allow everyone to start a little more powerful. TimewarpVortex, the system I've been using, runs in tiers. So far, everyone's been starting at Tier One, Level Zero. Which is about... peasant level. Since the apocalypse happened, it would be silly to say everyone's level zero. Else, how did you survive? The question is; should I have just ponies, or would you guys still like the other options of Griffons and Diamond Dogs?
I actually run wolves in a few of my RP's, they're even in my fanfic, that like Diamond Dogs walk on two legs. Not sure if you want to use that or not, if per chance you do I can help you a little with them.
Actually, according to TwV rules, that would be wild kobolds. Since kobolds are canine-people. I have High Kobolds, which are like big dog breeds. Trade Kobolds, which are like small dog breeds. Wild Kobolds, which are like... wolves, coyotes, etc. Then Crystal Kobolds, which are diamond dogs. There's also Dire Kobolds, which are fun.
Ooh, this concept makes me gusta. I just finished reading FO:E a week or two ago and I'm still in the mood for post-apocalypse. Not to mention I have a new OC I wish to try out! I'm totally game for this.
Peneia - Before the End The world was split into about 3 different continents. Greenland, Tauria, and Guardia. The world at large is populated by equinis faust, whom are an abnormal race of equines. There are a few different types of equinis faust. Ponies - With a talent in being average, they're better with regular skills than other members of the species. Drafts - Larger and stronger than the typical ponies, they're better at fighting, and doing manual labor. Pegasai - With the ability to fly, they're special talent is just that, the ability to fly. Unicorns - With a special talent in tapping into their inner powers, as well as those of the magical flow of energy on Peneia. Their talent is in casting spells or using other types of magical powers. Seaponies - The most numerous race of equinis faust, they populate the oceans of Peneia, and rarely come to shore. Breezies - A mythical pixie race of pony. Tiny and magically powerful. The world also has a number of humanoid canines on it, known to the ponies as "Diamond Dogs," they are bipedal, sentient, self-aware, and quite greedy. Living in the mountainous regions, they have been at odds with the ponies for more than five thousand years before peace was finally found between the two species. The Diamond Hoof Pact was signed to keep peace running between the two races, allowing them to integrate into pony society... but with two completely different forms of etiquette, tensions have never gone away. The Mana Crystals - Discovery In 1780 C.D. the first mana crystal was discovered - found deep beneath Mount Behemoth when a mining expodition uncovered a large antechamber. Dumbfounded Unicorns found that the crystal was able to communicate on a telepathic level to those with magical awareness, and what they found from that was that the crystal itself was producing the magic that poured through their world. Quickly, the magic was turned into science, as teams of researchers dove into the hidden secrets behind the true source of magic. Magical stones were produced from this crystal, and soon "magic" became a new renewable energy source. The world began to convert towards this new, clean, and reusable energy. Then, from their research, scientists uncovered 8 more crystals. These crystals were quickly communicated with and used for their power. Stone - Found first under Mount Behemoth. Fire - Within the Glastros Volcano. Water - Eventually shared by the seaponies of the Tullia Ocean. Air - It the windy caverns high in the World Spine Mountains. Nature - Deep within the Redlands Forest. Life - Under the Fountains of Youth. Death - At the heart of the Deadlands. Ether - Protected by the Eternity Guardians at the heart of Mana's Veil Gorge. Chaos - Underground of the Wild Forest. Each element creates mana through gathering the element around it and shifts it out to be used by ponies and diamond dogs alike. The Ether crystal syphons mana essence through it and enhances its power, which gives the races of Peneia their high magical rate. Chaos pulls in the elemental mana floating about and twists it into elements that are missing, filling in the spectrum of magic. Each one is vital to Peneia's safety. Greenland has the lowest number of crystals, being home to the Nature and Chaos crystals. Tauria has Fire, and Death, and it's off their shores that Water is closest to. Guardia is where Stone was found, and where Ether, Life, and Air were found. Disaster - Free Energy For Eternity As more and more magical energy began to be used, the crystals became fare more taxed than they ever had been. Magical rituals were being performed for very menial purposes, and stones known as "aspects" were being born for batteries all the time. Smaller, talking "companion gems" were being made and handed out to those who had enough bits to pay for them. This over-usage and flaunting began to anger the crystals. Magical technology advanced heavily, and pushed power to the brink... and the life on Peneia paid for their greed. When war broke out between Guardia and Greenland over control of the crystals, a battle broke out in the Chaos Crystal's Antechamber. This displeased it greatly, and in a violent explosion of energy, the crystal began to tear the land apart. Lives were swallowed as a chain reaction started, and the Nature Crystal joined in its divine judgement. The other crystals were quick to follow, and the world was torn apart. The shape of the land was changed permanently, and more than 95% of ponies and diamond dogs alike were wiped out by the destruction. Now, the world is dotted with different continents. The only inhabitable places left for pony-kind is the wastelands. Paradise grows around the mana crystals... but so do monstrous guardians. Out of desperation for food, brave ponies have put to use the weapons of the world before destruction and have ventured into one of the Eight Lands of Paradise to obtain edible food, drinkable water, and any form of live-stock they can obtain. More ponies are lost every day to the monsters roaming Paradise. Will you be one of them?
Races for Playing: Pony, Draft, Pegasus, Unicorn, Diamond Dog No foolin'. No government exists anymore, no real form of it anyway. Most gatherings are by different cities, like Iron Gate, which is where all of you will be. That's why I can't allow Seaponies. Sorry. Classes for Playing: We're at Tier Two this time. Strength-Based: Battler - For the love of combat! Martial Artist - For hoof-to-paw combat! Guard - Big on defense in melee. Squire - A stalwart in combat, good at pulling around aggression. Taking orders from a "lord" is the only way to advance in this class. Magic-Based: Mage - Good at modifying the flows of magic into woven spells to alter the means of combat and other situations. Temple Initiate - Three different religions exist on Peneia to different good deities. This class draws upon the power of life and their deity to heal others and defend them in combat. The only way to move through this class is to appease your deity. Dark Acolyte - Two of the three existing religions also have dark deities within them, and after the destruction, many ponies believe that praying to them will give them salvation from elimination. This class works as a debuffing and damaging magic class. Stealth-Based: Burglar - Good at searching old ruins and stuff. Infiltrator - Good at sneaking around and getting into places. Rogue Chaser - Better at going after other more roguish ponies. Thief - Good at taking things from other ponies. Thug - Good at hitting others from behind. Knowledge-Based Classes: Driver - Good at operating transport machinery. Firestarter - On the way to the explosives and pyrotechnical side of technology. Shooter - A pony versed in the ways of using the developed cannons in combat. Tinkerer - One who is best at messing with electronics, technology, gadgets, alchemy, potions, something among these. (Not everything.) Rounded Classes: Body for Hire - Rounded with abilities towards haggling for hire prices of different jobs. Dancer - Best at performing for others. Not something much needed anymore. Tracker - With the skills needed to hunt and follow things in the wastes and Paradise. Wanderer - Completely rounded class. That's about it.
The OC I have in mind for this is a healer, but she doesn't fit the description of Temple Initiate... ...like...at all...
Don't worry, Jhera. Mage is a rounded class, so you can take Mage and use healing spells primarily. At third tier, (which you can eventually get to,) there's a straight healer/anti-undead class you can go to. Which reminds me, I forgot to put down "Field Medic" under Knowledge-Based.
