The title sums up what I'm trying to say... Due to their location, the group discussions are, for the most part, not posted on regularly and forgotten... I'm just suggesting, maybe we add a section to the Everypony's network icons... (ie, the EPF/EPR/EPRoleplay/EPM icons above) An icon somewhere along the lines of "EPF groups"... Maybe that might attract a bit more attention. Just a suggestion is all.
Well, basically there are groups you can join, over here: http://www.everypony.com/forums/group.php ...the link's also on your profile, but you'd have to scroll down... But there are a fair amount, most having had short amounts of chat... But the chats there, are mainly dead, because most people forget about the groups after a while due to location, mainly... D:
Now this is interesting. If people used these group discussions more, then we would probably have less threads hanging about, which is in my opinion a good thing. It would also be nice to see another section of the site become more utilised.
Somehow redirect people to the group discussions and post their threads/topics there instead of posting all their new threads on General Discussion. I don't mind it, but I'd like to see the group's be used a bit more.
Agreed, DRD's idea may be a bit annoying to some at first, but I think it would also be for the better in the long run... Hmm, my first ideas though ran along the lines of integrating group chat into the normal forums/adding it to the icons on Everypony Network format.
I support this completely. The group system is so under used, and putting a new icon up there for it is a great idea to make it more... used.
I would also have to agree that the groups section of Everypony Network is incredibly underused and underrated. I know of several members who have had no idea it even exists until it gets mentioned to them, so don't feel bad about that Luprony. There needs to be something done to increase member flow through the groups area. I like the idea of adding a button that directs members there. Another possible idea for those that don't frequent the forums and don't pay much attention to the buttons is to add a link for the groups in the running ticker that's on the Livestream radio.
Groups are unfortunately pretty axed in VB software, seeing as they don't show up under subscriptions normally nor do they show up under "new topics" or that sort of thing. Thanks for the suggestions, we will take them into consideration.
If people go to use the groups more, more people will have something to respond to. I think a lot of people like myself don't have a specific need for groups, but wouldn't mind using them if other people were having mighty fine discussions among them.
