Well, it seems that, right now, many of the more popular kids are having whole threads made for them, for their Birthdays. I think that there should just be a Happy Birthday sub-forum, so everypony can be Happy Birthday'd! I'd certainly use it, I've always been a Happy-Birthday-er, up until Birthdays disappeared from the calendar. I think it'd make it more fair too, it's only really the more famous among us that seem to have these threads made for them, at current. Anyways... Yeah. Just a thought.
Actually there are two calendars, an event one (default view) and the birthday calendar, you can swap views on the calender.php page. I'd very much like to discuss this further and would "personally" prefer it if well wishes were restricted to VMs and PMs. I feel like public displays, even in a subforum could cause a little distress; some people may get upset about not having a thread or having fewer posts than another's. Having a subforum is an option though, and it may very well prove to be supported by the majority. We'll definitely have to look into it Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
I usually do my best to check birthdays; I've been bad at it the past couple days but I do generally wish everyone - even if I don't know them - a happy birthday. having a birthday forum could help "advertise" their birthday so more people come in to give well wishes and random birthday pictures or something XD
Oh, never noticed that- It doesn't really stand out, lol! Thanks, that'll come n handy. The part about the being upset about not having a thread is true, although I'm unsure about the post-number part- The same could be said for the intros sub-forum- People could end up comparing their welcomes to others welcomes. It's not like we can't welcome through PMs and VMs too though, it's just easier this way. I think this'd also mean that a lot less people are left out- as of now, a few people get threads made for them, the most popular peeps, like Zeph, Flash, Saikyo.... But through this, other more meh-members can get some Birthday wishin' too. It'd also, as Harley said, encourage more Birthday Wishin'.
I'm gonna have to say nay (neigh?) for this as well. VM's and PM's are the best ways to send birthday wishes, plus the user gets a notification as well.
My primary concern with this is the fact that some people are no doubt going to be ignored. Not to mention that having birthday threads everywhere is just plain... redundant. This is a no, for me. Keep it in VM's and PM's.
Yeah, otherwise there'd just be a birthday thread every day for members who've posted twice then vanished. If they're your friend, I'd think they'd appreciate a VM or PM more than making an unecessary thread.
