So get this. I have a netbook that I don't use all that much. It mostly stays around the house for special projects that I just need a Windows system for. Sometime back I installed the multiple desktop tweak because I like that feature on my Linux system and the Mac. About a week ago I stumble across some really cool MLP FiM cursors and that gave me the bright idea to ponify the netbook. So I get a couple of cursor packs, a couple of nice wallpapers, and a screensaver. I set it up so that I can switch my desktop to a non pony wallpaper, then easily switch cursors and screen savers should I need to take it anywhere. Life is good. Well today I had a staff meeting at a large fire department. I was asked by a colleague to take notes because he would have to miss the meeting. I got a bit behind in the morning and grabbed the netbook on my way out the door. As i sit down in the front row (the meeting room is set up like a class room) and turn the netbook on my MLP desktop comes up. I quickly switch to the other desktop. I leave the cursor alone because it is just too small to see, especially on a small netbook. BUT, I forget the turn off or switch off the screensaver. As I'm filling out some paperwork I glance up and notice the screensaver has activated. My boss is sitting right behind me, there is really no way for him not to see what my computer is doing, not to mention the rest of the people on the room. The boss never said a word. Has this ever happened to you?
When a friend asked me to look up something and I forgot to close a particular page. Somewhat similar right?
Well I don't think the boss cares about what is on your desktop, or screen saver, so you don't have to worry about that And no that hasn't happened to me, but my dad DID happen to stumble across my pony episodes, and from that day forward I was open.
I was working on my Cloudchaser and Trixie drawings when my grandfather walked in my room. Little more then awkward, I'd hate to explain those drawins to him. Luckly he didn't see them or mention them. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Well, my Dad found me on this site, I usually have it set up where I can quickly change it but this one time I didn't. So, that's how the only non-brony I know found out about my liking to MLP.
Let me tell you something. Not the entire world knows about bronies or what it's all about. There's a good chance people will see something you don't want them to see and they just won't care anyway.
I can back this up, I didn't even know bronies existed or there was a popular My Little Pony on the air until I acually watched the show and became one myself. (Reddit is to blame for me watching it)
People might not know what a brony is but a cartoon horse wearing panties is still hard to explain to someone. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Yes, my dad caught me watching ponies, I panicked I closed all programs, only to remember that I have ponies on my desktop, epic fail. But he never ever mentioned this, either he did not see or he did not care . Never dared to bring up the subject though, but he has to know sooner or later. My current approach is that I will not hide it but I will also not tell him outright unless he asks.
Well, can't say I've ever had an issue with that, but I can see how it would bit a little hard to explain to others like your boss lol but most bosses don't really care about it because what you do on your own time, most bosses don't care about. All a boss normally knows is they hired you for a job, if you do the job right and on time, they usually have no issues; So if I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.
My uncle always seems to catch me when I watch an episode or a long fan animation (EG: Rainbow Dash Presents). Once he saw I had Tumblr open (which is like 95% pony blogs on mine) and wanted to see. I was like, "Uhh... another time." He responds with, "Why, do you have something embarrassing open?" I was just like, "Kinda. It's just like a Facebook news feed thing."
