Hello Everypony..Today i was looking through topics on Equestria daily and found a post that made me panic little. You can find the post at http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/11/more-season-three-information.html Could any of you please tell me your opinion on it? it would be much appreciated.....Thank's for your time
Wow, some of the original writers left? That doesn't sound good D: Only 13 episodes?! This is pretty worrying news, but these are just rumors as the article said.
It's risk assessment. Making a TV show isn't as simple as having an idea, then letting it run for years on TV, it's done in sections. First is the pitching. This is going to a channel or producer and giving the general idea of what the show will be. Once that gets the green light, you go ahead and make an entire season. However, the first episode or 2 must be a closed story, so they can serve as a pilot. That way, cliffhangers can't play a part in whether or not the show should be continued. If the pilot(s) are successful, the rest of the season gets the go ahead. However, that's not all. The viewer statistics also decide whether or not season 2 should be made. A season takes about a year to make, so if they waited until the end of season 1 to analyse viewer statistics, there would be a year gap before the next one, and viewers would lose interest. That's why they need to know how viewers react at the beginning of season 1, i.e. after the pilot. Even with a second season done, that's still not a confirmation for how long the show will run. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is at the stage where it's being considered how successful it will be in the long run. By only ordering 13 seasons, it's simply being cautious as to wasting a whole season's worth of time, money and effort when it's possible season 2 will be a flop, which would indicate the show was a one hit wonder with season 1. If season 2 is a success, then it would indicate that it would be wise to continue it, and another 13 episodes can be produced in time. There is absolutely no reason for panic, at least not at this stage. It's far too early to even consider that. What has happened is completely natural in the world of television, and is in no way bad. As for the staff changes, that also means nothing. It's getting tiring having to remind people that Lauren Faust has not left, she is the consulting producer. That position means she is still there, doing the exact same job as her previous role as executive producer, only this time it's more of a 'when I'm needed' kind of overseeing rather than a constant monitoring of the production. She is still in this role. All this panic, which has happened several times, makes it seem like all the bosses are against the show or something. That's not the case, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has proved to be very successful, both on screen and through merchandising. Wait until season 2 is over, then go to Hasbro or Studio B for information, not Equestria Daily or any other rumour site. That does nothing but instigate panic. It's a case of 'we'll cross that bridge when we get to it'. For now, let's just enjoy season 2, and be glad that there is at least a season 3 to look forward to. There are far too many factors to just immediately assume the show is condemned. I hope this clears things up for anyone worrying.
The sky is not falling. Some turnover with the staff should be fine. Hasbro is actually quite aware they are sitting on a goldmine (have you read read their Q1 report?) and will do the best they can to keep us happy with this.
Honestly, I really don't see what the panic is about. Some misinterpreted information about Lauren stepping back in her job to get on with her other duties seems to still be in some people's heads. Like Luprony said, she has not quit (I saw quite a few comments saying that). As for the 13-episodes-will-it-be-last-season situation? Way too early to tell, I'm just gonna sit back, watch Season 2 and wait for the confirmation. Enjoy what we have now, and time will tell you answers faster than you can say "Oatmeal".
It's a rumor. I'd pay little attention to it until it's confirmed. It's worth keeping an eye on, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't stress it too much. It may turn out that it's just somepony trolling everypony.
Great... only 13 episodes in S.3. I'm gonna be having ALOT of fun. whatever, at least it got to season three. hopefully this is JUST a rumor...
what Lupr said + I don't know of I read wrong, but I read that they said that it's at least 13 episodes for now... so I see it as in they will make 13+ episodes. Meaning, they maybe will add more later. Also it's too early for that anyway, and it's not confirmed info as well.
I don't see why they would cancel a show this popular, that would be a bad business decision. But to be on the safe side, lets buy more pony stuff
Welcome to Everyp-... This is an introduction thread? :derpe: Anyways, it's just... 1) Rumors 2) Just what Luprony said. Now if only this generation would last as long as the Simpsons...
Tara Strong just announced that they began recording voices for the third season only a few days ago. Also, based on the sales reports from Hasbro and their welcoming of the "brony" side of the fandom, FiM isn't going to die any time soon.
Here's something else to consider. It's also not uncommon in the TV industry for shows to only have 13 episodes in a season. If I remember correctly, one show I used to watch, "Crossing Jordan" (which is over by the way), only had 12 or 13 episodes in it's third season, coincidentally. Except it started about half-way through the standard TV season until the end (March to may, I believe) Think about this as well. Having only 13 episodes can also lt them spread the episodes out more (which, unfortunately for us, means longer waiting periods between episodes, but that wait would be worth it in the end, wouldn't it? ) and gives them more time to make the episodes as awesome as they need/want them to be. This way, they're not rushing with the episodes, if they ever felt they rushed with some episodes.
