Aye guys. I'm new to the community, but I'm not quite sure if I should officially be a "brony". I mean, I like the show and all, but I feel sort of weird about it also. I'm a straight, 16 year old track&field and lacrosse athlete, and I'm afraid my friends, family, and girlfriend will reject me and think I'm homosexual, when I'm not. Was it weird for you guys? How did you friends, family, etc react? It's also really strange. I'm into hip-hop music (only) and I listen to hardcore stuff (earl sweatshirt) but watching a show about cute little ponies make me feel awesome They're so cute! My favorite one is rarity. She's so arrogantly funny and charming! ...Wow I sound weird. Oh, and do you think this is probably just a phase for me? Tell me what you think, hopefully I can make up my mind and join your awesome community.
hey there welcome to everypony i'm Yeti, nice to meet you well, you shouldn't be afraid that people will think that you're homosexual because you like mlp:fim. I mean, it could happen, but really, what you watch (specially if it's a tv show), doesn't define your sexuality. i'm 21 years old and straight, and I'm brony, but being a brony and sexuality don't actually have anything to do with each other. I've been brony more than a year and half now (since May 2011), and from people I know, no one assumed I was gay just because I watch ponies.
Hi! Welcome to everypony! I'm a straight 17 year old, and I like it. Nobody has accused me of being gay, except one group of people whom I have no respect for. So I don't think you need to worry about it all that much. Anypony who assumes that you're gay because you watch this show is either shallow, or a jerk, or is trolling you. That's what I'd say. ^^
Welcome to Everypony! I am Eight Star... allow me to share some of my experience for you. I am 27, single, in the employ of the government, and... yes... addicted to ponies. I have a fiance I met 3 years ago, but I've only been a brony since about the time that Nightmare Night came out. I tried to avoid it for a while, but once I started watching... why, I was hooked. Now, nobody makes fun of me for it... nobody pushes me around because of it... but then again, I'm an adult, I'm in the world where I've made my own means. Here in the office, people have purchased some of my pony art. Some of them ask me questions about it, and think it's "neat." I'm also a Metal Head, and sometimes listening to things from Psychopathic Records, so ponies didn't seem like they'd fit in, but... they've made an excellent escape from drama! Any time things get weird or harsh, I can just escape to watching ponies, or come here to Everypony and just talk to my friends, or RP. I understand that there are some stigmas against being a brony, but... it's not something you have to initiate a conversation about. Just always stay true to what you enjoy, and who you are... after all, it's your option, and in the end - it will only make things end better for you if you follow the things you enjoy!
Thanks guys! I guess you're all right. I told my friends though, and they picked on me all day. But I'm so glad I got it out of my chest I shall work on some fan art too. I'm really good. Thanks for the warm welcome!
I think the gay brony thing is mostly over with. Mostly people just call bronies neckbeards nowadays it seems. Um, not that you're a neckbeard... Although I actually am gay.. I'm with you on Rarity being best G4 pony though.
What's a neckbeard? and that's cool. I've never watched anything before g4 though. I think it's awful and too girly.
