I though it would be a good idea, since school is starting, to make a homework help thread, for those who need it. Don't be afraid to ask for help. It's better to humble yourself and ask, than to fail a class.
Well, this is probably one of the most productive ideas I've seen here in awhile. However I must caution that there is a definite line between helping and doing someones work for them. Helping to answer a question or two or explaining a topic so someone can understand it better is fine, but no one should be posting their entire homework sheet and expecting answers to everything on it. I'm sure you had nothing but good intentions when starting this thread, I just feel that this point should be made clear in the beginning so that everyone is on the same page.
I'm glad that you made that point. I know some people would have taken advantage of the system like that.
I guess people will just post in this thread and whoever wants to help can. I don't think there should need to be a 'system' in place. But I guess that'd be up to Royal.
I got the impression that this would be more of a community-oriented support thread. Different people excel in different areas, for example I could help with English or certain technical class-related questions, but I'd be useless in answering any math related questions. So it would be most effective for people to answer questions in areas that they are knowledgeable about.
My advance math knowledge is a bit rusty but I suppose Google and Wolfram Alpha can be used to assist. Sure.
Similar to this idea, maybe people can offer services or reply to general requests for help by going to private messages (so as not to clutter the thread with the back and forth details of every single person's issue) For example Person A: "Hi so i'm in calc and integration is really confusing me could someone help me understand it?" Person B: "I'm a pro at math and have some time, let me know by PM if you still need help" Person C: "hey could I ask you some quick stuff person B, I just started calc as well" Person B" "sure" only 4 posts long and 2 people got helped off in private message land, freeing up the thread for other topics
I'm really good in the area of History, so I could be of assistance to anyone who needs it. It's kinda frightening to me how well I know and like history.
If anybody needs help in the subjects of Business studies (Boston matrix, recruitment etc) or media studies. I'm your man.
I think we're getting a bit off track here, it's not really necessary for everyone to explain in detail what they are or are not good at. If someone comes along with a question in an area that you happen to be good at, then just speak up and lend them a hand.
You Organic Chemistry experts are going to be asked a lot of questions from me. There are Organic Chemistry experts here, RIGHT?!
Haha I'm not sure about that but I know there are a few people on here that are good with physics and stuff, that's like the same thing right? :derpe: By the by, I'm not in school anymore but I'm currently trying to teach myself Japanese, so if on the off chance there's anyone here who knows it, I could definitely use some pointers lol.
here are some useful phrases: do you speak English= 英語はできますか (Eigo wa dekimasu ka?) Whats your name= お名前はなんですか? (o-namae wa nan desu ka) How are you= お=元気ですか? (o genki desu ka)/im fine thanks and you= お蔭様で元気です (o kagesama de genki desu) How much is this= いくらですか (ikura desu ka?) and finally: Where's the toilet= 便所はどこですか (benjo wa doko desu ka?)/ トイレはどこですか (toire wa doko desu ka?)/手洗いはどこですか (tearai wa doko desu ka?)
Does any one have any tips for memorizing anatomy stuff. I know I'm going to have to this year, and I'm absolutely horrible at memorization.
Thanks but I don't have much interest in learning simple basic phrases, I'm looking to understand the language from the ground up. As for memorization Royal, repetition is always helpful, but association is going to produce your strongest chance of recall. Meaning that you need to make ties from whatever you're trying to remember to other things. The more ties the better. It's kinda hard to give a good example but if you google something like memory association techniques or just memorization techniques I'm sure you'll find some good ways to go about it.
Beware, I helped someone do this when I was in high school. I knew the teacher and the guy that needed help was a known slacker. The first two and last two paragraphs were about the subject at hand. Between them was written a story about a duck and his amazing adventures. I kinda wish I still had that story. :derpe:
