I've been thinking. What if a forum was made similar to the Pinkie's Friends in Need forum, but instead of talking about personal problems, you could discuss things that bother you about the staff or the forums in total privacy. You could for example make the basic forum, which will be visible to the entire staff, and add sub-forums which will only be visible to particular staff groups. Of course admins would be able to see each group nonetheless, but here's what it would look like: (main forum)Staff Discussion Forum Discuss things privately with the Everypony Staff. (sub-forum)Administrator Discussion Forum Discuss things with Administrators in private. (sub-forum)Moderator Discussion Forum Discuss things with the Forum Moderators in private. (sub-forum)Radio Staff Discussion Forum Discuss things with the Radio Staff in private. etc. You'd be able to discuss things in private with entire staff groups instead of having to PM them individually, which would enable members to get their points across more effectively and also allow the staff to deal with certain things more effectively as a group. This could potentially eliminate certain problems between staff communication. Being able to discuss things in private can be more effective than posting issues in the public forums which tend to derail fast if many people get involved. It also helps members and staff to understand eachother better on a more personal level. Members also wouldn't have to worry about breaking certain rules in these private sections since it's not a public forum, meaning they can be more lenient on website rules in here. I would also like to suggest that Staff Applications be moved to these new forums. One application thread for each specific job in their respective sub-forums (except ofcourse the admin forum). Members would be able to apply for a job more personally, instead of having the entire application list visible to everyone. The staff publically asking for applications and then proceeding to an eenie-meenie-mini-mo to pick new staff always seemed a bit redundant to me. Ofcourse, this is only my opinion/suggestion. Let me know what you think.
I SHALL THROW MY AGREE'S AT YOU. *throws planet at you* Its not big enough to fit all the agree's on...
I don't see the point of this. Seeing as the being staff is based off of generally just being you then on skills or experience. I agree to move it, but what does it matter that it's private or public. Nothing, if staff picks new staff the same way.
I see your point. As i said, it's only a suggestion. A public forum for staff applications always seemed a bit idiotic to me, which is why i suggested said applications to be moved to a more personal space, but either way works just the same.
I threw in the idea for the staff applications at the last second, so it wouldn't really bother me if they stayed public. It's the main idea of private staff forums i'm trying to get approved. :derpe:
After long talks with Yeti and Ramza, I think something like this is necessary. I support this idea, if it even matters. I also see some really bad stuff happening because of this, but I won't go into details now.
I pretty much approve of this idea, though I don't see the point of moving applications there as well. If somebody would like to submit a private application, then they could always use the PM system, I wouldn't mind. But then again, we're supposed to be making the system simpler for /you/ guys, not us, so if enough people seem to like it, then sure, why not?
This sounds like a decent idea. It will also prevent any future conflict between the staff from being displayed in public (although arguments like those haven't occured for a while now, so I think that we're all over it).
Zephyr already covered why I feel the applications don't need to be added into this, but I do like the idea of the various sections.
Like i said, the applications thing was only a small suggestion i added into this idea at the last minute. Since it seems to be an unpopular move for most of us, i'm ok with it staying where it is.
This is a cool idea. If anything, I feel that it would be more formal. In most application processes, the only application form you read is your own. On the other hand, it is currently possible to send these applications via PM, so moving them might just be an organizational touch.
This guy gets it. :derpe: At the moment, i think the current application process is a mess. I've been trying to think of ways to improve it a bit, but if i ever think of something, i'll make another thread for that. Most people don't seem to be very much into the current idea anyway. As for the private staff forums, most people do seem to like it, so I'll leave it to the staff to decide and work out the details if needed.
