Hi so anyway i've thought about roleplaying before either that or making my own roleplay but i've never done it before anyway how do I roleplay also do I have to create a OC or can I RP as a character from a show, game or movie?

Basically what Robin said. Unless the GM says, we don't RP as canon characters. For example, "Eluuna" was a pony I made, who's a pegasus. For their personality, I'll leave that to your imagination.

Well, can't speak for everyone else, but honestly as long as you're good at being in character(acting as your OC), being at least realistic to the story and not just blowing up the story with hard to go off of one liners, you're peachy in my opinion.
Protip: An excellent way of creating the illusion of being in character is to ignore all outside knowledge your character may not know. Nothing breaks immersion more than somebody who MetaMods. For example, if you're say, sneaking, and somebody writes that they're approaching your from another hallway, it would be very out of character to suddenly be able to pick up on obscure details just because you know it. It also helps to act in the way that your character would act, which may or may not be the best course of action. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but my favorite OCs are either perverted, greedy, or bigots, and because of such, they're going to act like it. The aristocratic unicorn isn't going to treat the earth pony with respect just because he may benefit from it; He'd rather be made a public fool.
Oh ok so if I were to make a RP I could be the one to decide what it's about and what people can say and do it in right?
But remember something I think is obvious: No one likes a strict GM, never being the hammer down too quick
I use to role play with my friends, it rarely turned out serious though, but it was fun- so many interesting adventures. The only words of wisdom I have is; don't make a mary-sue, meaning a character to powerful and to perfect. A realistic OC has flaws, a personality, people who like and dislike her (http://trickster.org/symposium/symp136.html). Actually now that I think about it I don't really think I want to roleplay sorry people/ ponies you will never see me in the roleplay ever.
