I'm limited to the NES video chip for colors so it's extremely hard to make the sprite. Note this- I also can't use more than 4 colors on the sprite, which is insanely difficult. This is the first time I can't make a proper NES sprite. Can anybody help me out? The sprite is, pretty much, all I need for the animation.
Well let's see you need: -tannish yellow -pink -black -white I guess if you wanted to get some shading with an additional darker shade of yellow you could switch that out for the eye white You probably should do her without the dress details You'll probably have to outline in black since you can't get the darker shades in there for the normal outline Aside from that I don't really know too much about spriting
I think having 4 colors including transparency was the most common choice. If you want to include all blue, yellow, pink, white and black in your sprite, using only 4 colors per sprite, I suggest you make a sprite sheet made of her eyes, face details/dress (That thingy in her hair) and her face as in a whole (Hair, face, mouth, neck, whatever) So, you use 4 colors for the main sprite (face and stuff), 2 for the dressdetails (this and that) and additional 3 for the eyes, which adds up as 5 colors for the sprite sheet (Excluding transparency). If you can't get them all on 1 sprite sheet (if the sprite sheet color limitation is 4 excluding transparency) I suggest you make 2 different sprite sheets for her (1 for the eyes and details/dress/whatever and 1 for her overall head). I myself prefer to work ONLY in 16-bits, which gives you 15 colors and 1 transparency.
Well, I have 8. I can easily make all of it using several sprites, but here's the problem. I can't have a lot of sprites, or I'll have to animate the refreshing of sprites, so I'll have to change from 30 to 60 fps.
If you can't have more than 4 colors and 1 sprite, forget her eyes and details. Color them both pink.
Quick question- should I have a background? Here's my sprite test- 4 colors, no repeats, will run on NES. Text is temporary until I find a way to make GOOD text.
This black background reminds me of those dramatic cutscenes in classic games where the boss enters and you have to keep ticking the buttons before you die after a few seconds. Good times, I think.
Impressive! Very NES! Hey - are you perchance able to digitize the speech too? I mean you don't have to if you can't, I just thought it'd go well.
If it's NES, it's most probably impossible to do so. Well, it is possible, but it'll sound too horrible.
