So far, his main point was that it makes people "gay" and he's trying to make us into "men". While I could describe everything he says in a much more intelligent fashion, it would be a pain to pull off. So, instead, I'll just give the majority of the conversation. In case you're interested. Basically, him starting off (he posted a link to a picture): "its a picture of some bronies at a brony convention. it also proves that they are obsenely ugly, nerdy and are at the bottom of the social foodchain(see also: aspergers syndrome)" "I personally think that the kind of person who thinks that they can bring themselves happiness by attempting to lower one's opinions of themselves and others should find a more productive use of their time." " @naik "oh crap OP has a picture of me" "u suck op lol" " "OTers are almost always the same. It's so... disappointing. They are so inept for change. Do they honestly believe that they can gain, gain victory, gain ANYTHING from ignoring? Is ignorance the same as victory now? I think I can understand myself now. I guess I used to be the same. I know why I'm different now, how things ended up the way they did. Either way, I'm still not particularly fond of your way of going about things. It's so... wasteful." (OT means Off-Topic, which is referring to the people on the Off-Topic section of a certain forum. I've been here for about a year or two. :S) ">implying OTers are the only people who hate ponies >AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA" "I apologize, but I don't believe a single remark I've made has been even marginally directed at pony-haters in general, but specific to you, and occasionally, OT fail-trolls. I don't have a specific point against pony-haters in general, as they occasionally can be civil about it, which I don't find need to argue with them for." We just want you guys to become men. "That's rather invasive. So not only are you going to define "manliness" for others, who you have nothing to do with, but you're also going to force them to follow these guidelines? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be "manly" if that's what the definition is. Especially if you are any form of example." (woo, taking a sliiight turn. This color is another guy. I don't remember if I included anything about it here, but the guy implied that people who watch MLP are gay. "Name 3 people who have turned gRay from watching a pony. Its like you're saying a man who raises ponies are gRay." "GrAY as in wimpy and sinful" Sin? Who are you, who is plainly mortal and biased, to defy something such as sin? Does that which promotes good behaviors, love and tolerance give sin and evil? Stop trying to look at the world through a dirty looking glass. No one is laughing. And more importantly, no one is changing." Aayyuuunnddd, that's about where I got up to in that discussion so far. He's currently not posting. :S But yeah, that's basically what the forum I used to (and occasionally still do) frequent is kind of like somtimes. We're pretty deeply screwed here, as the mods basically banned themselves with their modbot, along with got almost all of the sticky posts deleted. In case any of you were wondering what a select few of our fantabulous haters were like. *cough*likeanyonewillreadthis*cough*
I'd like to bring up the 5 Stages of Brony Development. :derpe: Every single anti-brony is at stage 1. At least that's how i see it.
However, that would give him the impression that I was expecting him to convert. Regardless of how he probably doesn't actually hold these views, I would still like him to take a careful look at them before continuing.
Eeyup, very true. The way these people think is just very sad. Kudos you're trying to change their way of thinking, but don't expect much result. They're not open to reason, since their behaviour usually has nothing to do with moral views in the first place. They just want to try to... "bring themselves happiness by attempting to lower one's opinions of themselves". In the end, the only ones who can change their way of thinking are themselves. We can only reach them a hand... (I hope this doesn't sound like I see 'us' as some morally superior elite. I don't.)
If people aren't open-minded enough to at least move to stage 3, i'd say they're just Parasprites to be ignored. Let them have their opinion and leave them with it.
I personally don't consider anyone to be fit to criticise bronies, until they have watched at least 4 episodes. I have made many of my lesser known friends bronies. But my best friend I have gotten to watch 6 episodes and he still doesn't like ponies. My other best friend has watched 2 episodes and decided to make a hate video about bronies. He since apologised. But I too although opened mined, took more then 2 episodes to officially decide I liked the show. Anyone who hates on this show with nothing more then first impressions is just ignorant and normally too insecure in their masculinity to let anything that seems girly to question it.
Setzer, way to show them in the argument. It's kinda of sad he couldn't have come up with anything better then manly and gay. Maybe one day he'll give in and watch the show. Anyway, good job Setzer. At least you argued with intelligence. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
To begin, I completely agree with you on that. It's a sad but true fact that many feel this way... And that most who feel this way let their misplaced pride keep them from becoming better people. People like that, like Rarit E said, are best avoided and left alone. And now, Thana-ranting time, the time of the show where I blab off like a troll: I'd just like to say, this guy sounds completely ignorant, biased, and refuses to accept the facts. Judgement of a group based on appearance already shows just what kind of person he is. And aditionally, the idea that "manliness" is based on preferences on things like shows and hobbies is petty... Well, I do have something to say about that... ..that sounds pretty gay of himself. I just can't help but say that. And, wow.... I gotta go to that forum! It sounds.... funny, is all. It's too bad that he left like a Scoota... I mean, chicken, instead of accepting the facts, though. But not everyone can be as manly as us, I guess But yes... this has been rather eye-opening for me, somewhat... And now that you've heard all I have to say, I guess I'll go to sleep now. :S I probably will have more intelligible things to say than this after... 4 hours of sleep?
Hater's definition of gay : Sinful and wimpy, implied unmanly. Actual definition of gay : Sexually attracted to the same gender. I'd like to bring up my former french teacher. He happens to be one of the most manly men in our school, and is openly gay. Points are invalid. Also, as for ignoring trolls, that never gets you anywhere, since ignoring in itself is a reply, which can be trolled off of, so really, you need to be a troll to get the troll to stop, so I really can't help here. Trolls are born, not made. Hayters gun hate.
Most trolls I've come across, if I ignore then go away. If that doesn't work laugh at like it's a joke. Trolls don't like to make their target laugh. To sum it up.
^ Most trolls you have come to see are probably unprofessional, and have no standards. If I troll, I troll. I don't quit untill one of us is mad. ... ... And it is neigh impossible to make me mad.
I really would like to challenge that. =p I don't get mad anymore. But are you a good troll or bad troll? I mean in the terms of right vs wrong/ good vs evil.
I, good sir, am a troll with a code. A code of honor, of conduct. A Bushido, if you will. For the Shogun!
Campness = General femininity, tends to be used as a stereotype for homosexuality. I think most people in today's society lack that word in their vocabulary, and tend to replace it with 'gay'.
Is it wrong to embrace your feminine side and feeling and be a straight guy? This is basically why my OC is female. Screw male stereotypes.
