We all get to a point when we have to hit the books and prepare ourselves for an upcoming test, but what I would like to know is what gets you into the mood to study? For me, I never study at home. Internet, video games, and TV distract me to no end. Instead I go to the school's library to study a few hours before presenting. This puts pressure on my back to insure I know what I'm up against.
I play music from Persona 3, mainly this one. It really helps me focus.
I listen to Queen and Beatles Music to put me in the mood, I also set a goal and have a reward for myself if I reach that goal.
Tries to read, accidently fall asleep. Continue to read, then give up an watch ponies. I suck at studying. I have a test today by the way and I did not get any sleep. To make matters worse it is religion philosophy and it's about arguments for and against God's existence, so yeah, stupidly complicated.
The only thing that made me study was if I knew I didn't know something and/or when I realised I had less than 24hrs until the test. I wish I was joking but that's how I went through my last 5-6 years of school, the worst thing that can happen when you don't study is actually passing the test, I kept on passing and thus continued to never study as there was no real incentive. However these days I probably spend a few hours each day studying, not for any classes or tests just for my own sake, and that in itself is what motivates me to study. The simple fact that I want to know and learn things so I can apply that knowledge to life in general.
My preferred discipline is in code, computer science and the art of the keyboard. Something fast, and then I have to keep up, writing quicker and quicker faster and faster, and if not then at least compile and run, try it out... but be quick, this is just code design, we're not nearly done. Keep typing, there's far more to do, think about it.. where's that little bug in the game coming from? Comb what you just wrote and find the error, squash it, recompile, run it again. This thing is due in very, very soon [regardless of how long until it is actually due in, I have this same mindset on day 1 as I do on the day before the deadline]. Keep writing, keep playing, make it better because you are the best, you know it to be true... so prove it. ...Studying. I went to a workshop hosted by a big software company called "Thoughtworks", now... whilst I appreciate that their office [kitchen with food coming out ALL of the time, beer in the fridge in the office, games consoles EVERYWHERE] isn't the best example of 'working hard', their ideas behind active development is. Active development is where they send their employees around the world to their clients, so they can sit there face to face with the client and develop the code with the person it's being made for. If I myself am the developer, I use the fast music to make myself a little bit angry and interrogate myself to improve what I'm doing. That method in itself is active development.
just fact that I have things to do get me in mood to do them. As soon as I'm done with everything, that's best relief feeling I can work for. What do I do, and where do I study? Well, I study in my room. I close myself, and isolate myself form anyone (you can only get my by mobile phone). I do need internet for studying 90% of time, but I simply don't do any fun things on computer, or internet until I'm done with my studies. (that means, no skype, no random websites, no facebook, no ponies, no memes, etc)
I heard listening to poetry while studying helps alot.
If only all you needed was a high Academics meter, like in Persona. I could play quiz games all day and still make top 10 in the class.
In order to study I get distracted, play Dwarf Fortress with a friend, go downstairs and watch/Play some table football, visit Everypony and generally do anything but study. Works every time.
Didn't James voice Vader? In response to OP... I guess I'm pretty screwed for college. I have no idea how to study. I'm just one of those students who could just disappear in the back of the room, and repeatedly pick up A's...things have definitely changed for me. *sigh* I remember a long, long time ago, back when I was in either the 3rd or 4th grade, what we would do is completely isolate me. I don't remember much about it, except that I couldn't see or hear anyone else other than the teacher. Then after that, A, A, A, A, A, all the way until my Jr. year. So, I suppose I would have to say the preceding is the my "style" of study. However, some people learn differently, thus they have different styles.
Snow rolled her eyes at Orchid's pitiful response and stepped forth, glaring at the pony in the Commando armor demanding about them, "I'll have you know, my good sir, that I am in fact Snow Mark, OWNER of Mark Co and therefore, OWNER of my armor, YOUR armor, YOUR weapons, YOUR "corp name", and everything else related to "Commando" as you claim to be!" She said in an authoritarian, business-like tone, almost scolding, "And I will not put up with such a tone!" The stallion looked unimpressed by Snow, "Yea, you and what army miss? I got one. You got a single pony whose a blubbering mess. And Miss Mark died 200 years ago, don't lie. Now, you two are going to come with me, and we are going to have a nice little chat in the Everfree Forest. IF you resist, I will kill you, understand?"
