well, as I come across one topic, I saw there were few members (who posted) that say that they are in the closet bronies, and hide it irl.

well, I'm curious, why are you (those members) so afraid to say that you like such good show? Reputation, people looking you funny?

as for me, my family knows I watch My little pony: Friendship is Magic, and my sister is also a fan, and dad also likes cartoon. one episode was enough to get them liking cartoon.

as for friends: on collage we have collage forum online, and there we have spam topic during test seasons, and I've started to post ponies, and at first people were like "wtf?" and laughed, but after they watched it themselves they have become bronies too, and after a while they have also started to post ponies, even without me being online there would be ponies. now, after test season is over, I've posted official mlp topic, and well there's quite few of us on collage, and people don't laugh on us anymore, because it's obviously good since it's liked by so much people.
from all people that confirmed that they have watched mlp, only one said that he didn't love it, but he said he wasn't into cartoons as much, but after watching 3 episodes, he could understand why so many people like it, and that it turned out much better then he expected.

also people outside collage know I'm brony, and anyone who thinks "wtf dude?!" I just challenge him/her to watch few episodes and say that again.

so, fellow bronies, don't be ashamed for being a brony, there's a child inside us all, and mlp can get it out in anyone.

I'm a biker for starters, and already don't fit in with the world around me due to 'weirdness' as they put it, not liking football and driving an old banger and generally not following the norm, saying i like MLP, i doute it will do me any favours.

Parents know and seem to like to bring it up or say get a girlfriend, which i;m trying, but i find so many girls...........annoying.

Er, that would be me. However, a lot of people know about my addiction indirectly.

Oh god, it pains me so. Sometimes I just wish I could at least tell my brother that I was a brony, since he was a fan of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, so I could tell him that, maybe he'd give it a chance, and hopefully I could convert him. It's a rather risky move, though; either he WILL do that or he'll laugh at me for the rest of our lives. He has once barely seen me watching a pony video. He asked me if I was a video about ponies, I mumbled a yes, and he said "Lol." A rather ambiguous response if ever there was one. However, it did tell me that he knew about them, which got me curious. So I used my awesome hacker skills to get onto his computer(he went upstairs and left it open)and searched his browser history for the word "pony." Results were few and disappointing for the most part; however, I did confirm that he knew about them from one particular item- the Youtube page for Pinkie's version of Evil Enchantress. It was the only Youtube video, and he had apparently accessed it from a League of Legends post about drawing the characters into ponies. It was also from a while ago- over a month ago. However, just knowing that he's seen it doesn't tell me whether or not he liked it and just didn't watch any more. I'll need to go deeper(lol inception)into the matter to find out if it's safe for me to test the waters.

I'm not afraid to admit that I enjoy the show, but I also don't go about talking about the show everywhere I go. If it's one of my friends, I'll mention it to them. They already know that I'm a fan of other animated series, some of which are geared towards younger audiences, so it usually isn't an issue.

Jett, if you want a way to approach your brother about it, you could always mention that the creator of My Little Pony is married to the creator of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and helped out on some episodes of Foster's.

For me, I'm not really ashamed that I like the show, because a large group of individuals in my age group like it too. To fully understand, you'd have to understand a bit of my personality. I'm actually a very quiet person in real life. It's something I thought I'd grow out of, but here, at 25, I'm still very shy until you get to know me. I hate it, but whatever. In certain areas I can be more assertive though, like at the workplace, for example. Once you get to know me, then I'm more open. I prefer to remain mysterious until someone tries to get to know me better. I pretty much like to keep to myself too. Also, I don't think anyone in my family would understand anyway. Besides, I normally don't tell family much of my business. As I said, I prefer to keep to myself.

However, I'm still on summer break from my university. So, once the Fall semester begins at the end of August, if I happen to see or hear any MLP:FIM related things (i.e., maybe someone has MLP merchandise of some sort on them, or uses a phrase from the show, or if someone is actually daring enough to have an episode on one of the computers in the lab), then perhaps I'll approach them. I don't know, as I said, I'm sorta like Fluttershy in that respect.

I have a feeling that there may be some bronies in my department because when I did a Google search of my university and the word "brony" I was linked to a YouTube account from someone that's doing research related to my major at the university and they recently added some MLP:FIM videos to their favorites. I doubt that he's the only one. Perhaps I'll cross paths with a real-life brony in the upcoming months. That would make life 20% cooler.

It's partly my fault for not wanting to talk about MLP. As I grew up, I have created an image that gives a "talk to me and I'll beat you" vibe. I'm trying to move past that image, but I'm going to have to meet some new people willing to accept things that are out of the norm...*sigh*

I'm not in the closet when it comes to being a Brony. But I don't go around and scream that I am either. I don't hide it, but I don't announce it loud enough for everyone to hear. That's just asking for trouble. Never a good idea to force it in peoples faces. But my parents know about it. Then again, I don't live with them either. But even if I did, I'm the type who doesn't care what they say. You know how parents can be and I've grown accustomed to ignoring them when I think I should. lol My dad gives me a little flack about it, but it's partially just to mess with me. My sister knows and she asked if I was a Brony first time I said something. I just responded by shooting out another couple pony-related memes like "20% Cooler". Didn't tell her directly, but they obviously know and my sister and her boyfriend already knew about the Bronies beforehand obviously. They're internet savvy enough to where I'm sure if they aren't Bronies themselves they at least know about the fans and all. So... yeah. I don't hide it, but I don't wear it on my sleeve either. Though I do have one or two tasteful shirts. And I often have a Dash pin stylishly placed somewhere on my person when I'm out. :trixieftw:

Eh. I've just been trying to hide it because I'm kind of an effeminate guy and I admit I'm a bit insecure about it. In truth, I do not consider myself handsome, pretty or cute, rather I consider myself ugly; a freak of nature. I know I shouldn't because it's not right but I just don't know where to classify myself. In some ways I'd consider myself masculine and in other ways I'd consider myself feminine. I also don't like following the norm but don't really care about actively rebelling against it; I just want to go my own way. Also kind of shy.

I don't try to hide the fact that I watch the show, but I also don't run around screaming "I LIKE MY LITTLE PONY!!!". If someone asks me what the show is while I'm watching it I'll tell them and then usually get the odd reaction from them that I was expecting. Not many people ever ask me though, so I guess I don't have to deal with it as much as other people may have to.

"Your reputation is in the hands of others. That's what the reputation is. You can't control that. The only thing you can control is your character." -Wayne Dyer

I believe every word of that, yet, I still don't see myself telling everyone on Facebook that I'm a brony. I have told three friends. One appears to be a brony now(but doesn't touch the community), one doesn't want to know anything about it, and another has no words to describe how he feels about it. I am also friends with a few pony-haters who would probably give me a hard time about it. In reality, the worst I think I'll have coming to me if i told them would be an "alrighty then, whatever". After that I would move on with my life.

I (and I would assume many other bronies) have built this up to be something much more serious than it is. We are the ones who have created paranoia in ourselves about others finding out, when really, they probably wont think it's a big deal as they don't know our emotional investment in it. And it isn't like they need to know details about our participation in the fandom, just that we like the show. At the end of the day, someone learns something new about your interests. Who knows, maybe they might go find out more about it!

If you tell a friend about it and he or she de-friends you because of it, good. This person clearly was not a true friend. FIM can act as a friendship purification device in this way. Real friends like you for who you are, not what you like. (Pretty cliche sounding if you ask me XD, hope some of this made sense)

well, I also don't go around telling i'm a brony.
yes, on test spam on collage foum it was all pony theme, but that was more for teh lulz. I just told my closest friends I'm brony, but many people (from collage know I'm a brony). after test spam, and opening mlp topic on forum, when I came across those people irl, they didn't even act any different than usual. They know I'm cartoon fan by default, and I had Ed avatar (from Best Ed) (Canadian cartoon) since I've come to collage. and now I have changed to Spike (same I have here). I'm not yelling it to anyone, but that's who I am and my avatar is something I like and don't want it to be interpreted ad putting something in someone's face.
Idk, but people who know me (online and irl) know that I really like cartoons, so these isn't much surprise for them anyway. Even in snowboarding, those aren't usually too nice people, but (not barging) I've kinda made name for myself in my country, and well, I have Tails and Ed highback socks on for my board (both cartoons for kids), and well,I never had problems about it. only that people asked me where did I got those.

overall, if you see me on street, you probably wouldn't know I'm a brony, not even if you meet me unless you ask me or somehow we touch topic of cartoons (or if I make myself mlp highback sock for my snowboard).

edit: oh yeah, and I have my brony ID card on sig of Two Tailed Fox Forums , and in my picture album on collage forum (along side with couple memes, some other stuff, and one drawing that was made by one irl filly friend), and I have mlp:fim on list of shows I like on facebook.

what do you think? am I being to pushy with all pony thing?

Um, well I don't really want anyone to know because they think I'm weird already. If anyone at my school knew, they would criticize me. I've lost a friend recently and I'mm not going to board that emotional rollercoaster again

Everyone knows I like the show, I don't shove it in people's faces, but I don't hide it.
Some of my friends actually hold a grudge against me, I've genuinely lost a couple of friends for liking the show.

I'm just afraid that if someone told my entire grade or something, I'm in 10th, people would be so cruel about it. Someone moved from my school because he couldn't handle the criticism. I don't if I could handle it either....

hmm.. I suppose most of you (above posters who are afraid of critics) are from usa.
interesting fact, after that mlp stuff (on collage forum which members I know irl from collage (some)) I've actually gain some new friends, and didn't lost any friend.
idk, but if you ask me if a friend is willing to give up from another friend just for mlp, and knows him/her longer time, and knows how he/she is actually, than he/she isn't that good of friend. friends should accept ones for who they are. Yes, my family is used to watching cartoons (I probably got to like so much cartoons from my dad who still watches cartoons in age of 49.).
as for friends: who looks at my facebook account, they can see that among other shows I like is mlp:fim (it's just one of many), I've just said it (with no special reasons) to 2 friends, and one turned out to be brony himself (he liked memes before anyway) (actually he saw my Derpy Hooves wallpaper on laptop and then he instantly knew how that is and showed me one mlp compilation mix video).
