I was just saying on the thread about feeling depressed, that I firmly believe that as we grow older and lose our childhood innocence and the world becomes less colourful and more grey and drab...sometimes we need that escape, release...back into unadulterated, guilt free joy.

Innocent, harmless happiness and pleasure with no strings attached - no twisted sexual meaning, no underlying story.

A genuinely positive and uplifting pleasure that focuses on the fact that the happiest people are those who learn, love and live.

    I found this quote...

"In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play." ~Friedrich Nietzsche

And I felt it summed us up as Bronies.

Somewhere, when we got hooked...our inner child reached out. The adult in us enjoys the humour and jokes...but our inner child enjoys the harmless pleasure of - well, innocence and happiness.

We live in a world of glorified violence and negativity. You're constantly told to be ruthless and tough to get ahead. People believe "real men" need to hide their feelings and be objective. You turn on the TV and entertainment is about watching gruesome forensic science and death (by the way...I'm an EMT, so I'm not squeamish...I just see no point).

    So you see...

MLP FiM....appeals to that inner child and gives it the pleasure. Appeals beyond the head which may fail to comprehend and leave you confused - and goes straight to the heart and to me, at least, reminds me of a simpler time when all was good in the world.

    Agree, guys? Thoughts?

Well, having turned 18 this year, i have given some thought on the loss of what made childhood so fun. It was harsh having to accept that the adult world will be filled with more drabness than there was when I was younger. MLP has been a huge help in keeping my inner child alive and I refuse to let the stresses of the adult world get to me so much that I won't be able to enjoy things like the show.

Wow MinerBrony, that is a really good point. I am still struggling to understand why I love this show so much and I think you nailed a bit part of it.

I have always been the kind of person who sees a G rating on a Movie ans immediately assumes it's lame. Shrek was once of the few exceptions to this rule, in fact I think so many people loved Shrek because of the childhood nostalgia and it was actually cool enough to like the Shrek movies.

I actually think Shrek and MLP is as funny as Family Guy or Drawn Together. But they do it remarkably without resorting to sex or toilet humour. (Bridle Gossip, Twilight's Horn a clever exception) This shows a level of creativity that puts MLP ahead of these shows, in my opinion.

I don't really have words for this, I mean it just sums up everything.

The world always pushing men, saying they have to like football, guns, violence and cars. There is nothing wrong with liking those things, but if a male show any sign of emotion then he gets labeled with many nasty names and put down for being different. I just wish the rest of the world would stop the whole labeling and stereotyping thing.

I'm glad that my inner child has clawed his way back up from the depths of a crushing world and is able to see the world as I did earlier in life. I have always like many things put out by Disney and Pixar.

I'd rather live on this planet being mocked for having hope, love, emotions, and enjoying MLP. Then pretending that none of that stuff exist.

well, since I'm older teenager (19), and well, kinda adult, I think I can say how I see world.

all people have child in themselves. Everybody likes to play. you'll find tones of adults playing video games. playing sports is also playing. Professional athletes in extreme sports, they are all children in hearth. Yes, that play may be dangerous, but it's fun, whatever you say.
If you notice little boys always like to play with cars.. grown man also like to play with cars.
actors, you think they would be so good if they didn't put their emotions and have fun while acting?
Personally, I don't care one bit about stereotypes society puts, I like what I like. I'm able to do my duties professionally, when I work, I'm serious and focused on my work. when I have free time, I have fun.
in same time I like some "adult stereotype" stuff: like some crime shows on National Geographic Channel, or some good action/horror movie.
problem is that lot of people are ashamed or afraid to show what makes them joyful because of stereotypes and society standards.
fact is that every person has emotions, and that every person when sees someone to be in touch with his/hes inter child knows somehow that there's something deep inside them that is same.
Also I think people who have kids are in touch with their inter child are generally better parents because they can understand kids better. Some just have hard time finding that inside them self.
