It's exactly what it says on the tin. Who would be interested in playing a pony RP featuring cosimic horror a la the Cthulhu Mythos? It would be set up much like Eight Star's "Order of the Golden Lightning" RP and it would use many of his rules. I'm thinking of including a machanic for Sanity, as well. Any questions? Comments? I've never played Mansions of Madness, but if it's anything like Arkham Horror, it sounds like something I could get into.
It's put out by the same people (Fantasy Flight), and both are based off of H.P. Lovecraft's books, so I would guess that they are similar. But, I have never played Arkham Horror.
That's okay. I've never played Arkham Horror, either. I'm in the middle of reading a collection of H.P. Lovecrafts works. I've played them both, and that's basically how it is. The little brother. Arkham is huge and while fun - not for those with only an hour to spare. What, this email? The players are sent from Canterlot University (or something, I haven’t quite nailed that down yet) to investigate some strange goings-on in Ponyville. It all started when Twilight sent a letter to the Princess explaining how she met a travelling zebra named “Virulento”. It seemed that Virulento travelled from town to town, showing off his “Amazing Wagon of the Odd and Curious.” She was especially excited about “getting a closer look” at a certain book. The leather-bound book didn’t have a name, but the alleged author (according to Virulento) was the “Mad Arabian,” Abdul Has-Read-All. Also, according to Virulento, the cover of the book is adorned with Abdul’s Cutie Mark ( In her next letter, she explains that Virulento reluctantly allowed her to look inside the book, but only for a few minutes. She wrote that she would try to read it again soon. The letter after that explains that Twilight got a hold of the book “for an indefinite period” or until she was “finished with it.” The letter contained more spelling errors than normal, which seemed a little strange since it appeared to have been written by Twilight herself. The next letter to arrive was a little more garbled. The only thing Celestia could make out was that Twilight wrote about the “greatest, most terrifying discovery of her life.” But before she could send anypony to investigate, she received another letter: Dear Princess Celestia, Please ignore my previous letter. I was so absorbed in my studies that I had been going on less sleep than I originally thought. In fact, if you would, please just dispose of that letter; it’s embarrassing to know that I wrote such butchery of the language. All is well. I am fine. Please don’t worry about me. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle Hastily scribbled underneath was: Twilight’s completely off her rocker! Send somepony quick! Spike

DOUBLE POST So I don't know if you guys will find this interesting, but y'know Mansions of Madness? Well, my friends and I have been making custom investigators for the game, and I made custom PONY investigators. I can't guarantee that they are exceptionally made, but I just thought that it was an amusing coincidence that I made pony investigstors in that game, and now I will be playing a very similar game on a pony forum.

I think I can do this with just two characters (I didn't want to do more than four, anyway) The things I'll need are: Name: Race:(The races are the same as Eight Star's. No alicorns.) Special Talent/Cutie Mark: (Umm...for this RP you cannot be a Blank Flank. Sorry.) Occupation: The characters are from a school in Canterlot called "Misakitonik University". The university is known for studying "non-traditional" magic (ritual spells, magitech, and even straight science), hence the reason they were called upon to look into the situation at Ponyville. Your character can be a student, a member of the faculty, or an alumnus (who can have any job you can think of) Background: Just a bio on your character. Maybe why they attend Misakitonik University, or something. Have fun! If we don't get any more players, I'll let ya'lls play multiple characters.

If I have time today, I'll post a proper signup. Oh, I've been meaning to ask everypony who's interested: Would it be a deal-breaker if the ponies were bipedal? Y'know...anthro? I think ya kinda need fingers for a proper Call of Cthulhu-based RP. This is what I'm talking about. ( Rule 63 Mane 6 Incoming.) The rules will mostly be the same: Unicorns will still have innate magic, pegasi will be able to fly, and earth ponies will still be strongest. If that's not doable, I'm okay with them being ponies.
I would prefer just ponies. I mean, they get around the fingerless-ness in the show. Pegasi can use their wings to grasp some things (kinda creepy, but it works), unicorns use magic, and earth ponies...well, they can operate hoes and other farming implements, so I would think they could use other things... Of course, I wouldn't go and quit just because they were bipedal, I would just prefer they be normal ponies. PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?!?!?
