The basic idea; you are an average human on Earth, when suddenly you and your group of friends find a strange artifact that fell from the sky. The artifact infects you with something called a "soul parasite", a strange ghostly apparition that is extremely powerful and laches onto the souls of those it infects. It grants great power, and even a pretty cool suit of armor that reminds your human brain of an Iron Man suit, however, in the end it is the parasite that is in power, and sends you and your fellow infected off into space to be the "protectors of the Universe", no matter however much you want to or not. You find yourself before a being referred to quire humbly as "the Master of Power and all that Great and Good", or Power Master to his friends, he is the host of thw most ancient and powerful of the soul parasites, and the only one to ever become master of his parasite, granting him immortality. Then, the path is up to you, shall you support the good of the universe? Or shall you fall into the gathering darkness that seeks to wipe all life from this universe so it may claim it as its own?
