Im sorry if this kills anyones perception of the character, but has anyone thought much into cadence`s love power? say your breaking up with some one due to irreconcilible differences, one zap with cadences magic and you forget you were ever angry at someone, great right? but what if that person was actually abusive and horrible, and her seeing you argue was actually you standing up for yourself? ZAP! youve lost the feeling to stand up to the person who abuses and beats you. and you know who else was born due to his mother putting a love spell on his dad? oh hai voldemort
Looking back at the episode, her powers ended the argument of two ponies who appeared to be on a date. This may suggest that she doesn't actually create love, but merely makes it obvious to them that trey really loved each other. It could be that her abilities allow her to see or feel good relationships, and with a different spell, Cadence might be able to prevent bad ones. Due to the nature of the show, I highly doubt that she could force two ponies to fall in love and as we see in the "Hearts and Hooves Day" episode (and the Harry Potter series for that matter) you cannot create real love, only obsession or infatuation. Anyways....THAT'S THE POWER OF LOVE!! Duh do do do dah do do dah daaa!

I wonder if Cadence wrote that book that CMC's had in Hearts and Hooves day... hmm... anyway, personally, I think, yes, she could, but she wouldn't abuse her powers. Same as Twilight won't show off her magic if there's no reason for it.
So...where in the canon does it say she has love-specific powers? She has magic, and she uses it to heal, to make peace, and for good in general. But as far as I know, she has no love powers. Just plain old regular unicorn magic, that she uses only for good-intentioned purposes. And someone using their powers for good would be unlikely to use them for nefarious purposes. Also, any unicorn could theoretically use their magic for evil, not just Cadence.
I wonder about the book too. Maybe we will see that kingdom falling in Season 3. Then there must had been or will be kings somewhere in Equestria.
I will quote Uncle Ben, who was in turn quoting Voltaire: the nature of her power is not what should be brought into question, but rather how she uses it. If she were to use her power frivolously and rashly, then one could say that her power is evil; however, we already have canonical proof from the show that she uses her power as a means to keep peace between couples instead of the ultimate matchmaking toy. Spoiler: Pic related.
I dunno. It seems to be a kind of insidious power, if you think about it. Twilight herself said her power was to create love in ponies. Not amplify, not remind of. Create. All sorts of disturbing connotations there. I think it's irrelevant whether or not she would. Celestia would never pull the sun into Equestria, for example. But she could. And that's the scary part about Cadence. Would she? No, of course not. Could she? According to canon...yes. She could.
