Is Celestia a Troll?

First of all a Troll is a negative thing to call others in truth, as the definition of a Troll is one who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
Though perhaps we can try adapting it to a different non-internet 'setting': One who deliberately works to upset and anger others with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. Or even one that tricks and upsets others for their own personal enjoyment not caring how it effects others.

No matter how you look at it Celestia is not a troll, she simply has a playful sense of humor and the closest thing to a trollish thing was the tea act... yet that was simply to lighten the mood and tell the Cakes that they didn't have to be so nervous.

The reason for posting this is I find people throwing around the word Troll without understanding what it is, or have unknowingly twisted the definition to considering it positive. Yet if you want to counter what I have said perhaps we can make a friendly debate about it.

 

I wish people would use some common sense. On the tickets there is no way Celestia would have know all of Twilight's friends would have wanted to go. That and do not forget that when you invite someone to a social function of some sort you give them to tickets as a curtsy. Perhaps Celestia believed Twilight would bring a date, did you consider that? Celestia invited Twilight because she wish for her company in what had become a boring party in her eyes she had gone to year after year.

Celestia is not all knowing, Celestia is wise but does not have spies all over Equestria giving her information on ponies lives. Heck one could reasonably say with how busy Celestia is that her only means of learning about what is going on in Ponyville is through her students friendship letters. Which it should be reminded are lessons on friendship and on what Twilight has learn. Sure Celestia would have learned a fair amount on Twilight's friends through these letters but not everything. It is assumptious to believe Celestia would know all of Twilight's friends would want to know and that it would cause problems. In this case you give Celestia too much credit.

Now onto the Gala. Yes Celestia did know Twilight and her friends would be able to liven up the party but not necessarily how. There was no way she would have know everything would fall apart. Did she enjoy the change from boringness? Most likely but she wouldn't have planned it all out. Which would also go into how things went bad for Twilight and friends and again you presume too much.

Why not the Wonderbolts? They are her very best. People keep assuming Celestia should fix everypony's problems but that is not how she works. Celestia trusts her subjects can figure things out themselves. Another thing that should be considered is perhaps Celestia was in no position to get involved. Remember royals rarely have the time or means to get directly involved in their subject's lives and problems.

Now onto the holiday... who is to say she started it? Perhaps it organically grew from her subject's wish to understand what happened. Also Luna is not Nightmare Moon and Luna herself said Nightmare Moon should be rightly feared.

How is it a punishment? Celestia took away her students perceived requirement to give a friendship report each week and instead only send one when she had one to give. On her friends writing friendship reports she never said they had too and simply said that it would be a good idea for her friends to write some.

On Discord statue who is to say she knew that> Celestia herselve clearly said she saw the chance of him breaking out impossible, not realizing that by her and her sister not being connected to the Elements of Harmony would weaken Discord prison.

Celestia is not a builder, she probably set it up for others to fix it and check in on her student probably for the reason she wanted to make sure they are okay. She would have set everything up so that everything could be put into order. Heck should could have called on Luna to fix everything as it was night time.

On Phimamena it was probably for the wish to make sure to be close to her companion until the change. Something she has probably done for many years indeed and didn't want to leave her friend all alone. That and how would she know Fluttershy wouldn't know what her bird was? That and she got called away suddenly, royal duties calling her to meet with the mayor.

On Dragon Shy with the six facing the dragon why should she be able to trust Twilight and her friends to handle it? They had already saved Equestria once? Again I remind it is not her style to fix other's problems, she teaches and guides ponies to figure things out on her own. She doesn't still the spotlight, as she wants others to shine.

Luna had become Nightmare Moon, who from the pilot it could reasonable be said that Nightmare Moon was more powerful then Celesia, with even th possibility that she was banish herself (or at least locked away) on nightmare Moon's return. If Celestia could handle things on her own she would have not needed the Elements of Harmony.

 

First off again internet and two way not just say she has a playful sense of humor? Trolls are not good or fun, most trolls are internet scum.

 

I'm a serious person

That and after having seen so much of Trollestia and meeting those that actually see her as a troll I have gotten tired of it. It might have been funny at first but it isn't anymore for me. People rail on Celestia, make fun of her and even try turning her into a tyrant... many doing so in their misguided support of Luna.

 

I said some did so because of their love for Luna not all, Myself Luna is my favorite yet I respect Celestia. It's not a problem up to an extent, I'm sorry for ranting a bit before it just frustrates me. 'Harmless fun' is fun up to a point but the question is at one point is it not harmless? The mind is a complicated thing and while fans may simply see themselves as joking about character these jokes do effect how they see Celestia.

How many Tyrant Celestia's and Trollestia fanfictions/art have you seen, more how many fanfictions/art have you seen that show Celestia as having fun at other expense? I have seen too many, it's almost the default view for many fans of the show. The Solar Empire and Luna Republic are an extention of this. It would seem most fanfictions involving the Solar Empire and Lunar Repubic are nor comedic stories but very serious stories.

It was because of the Solar Empire and Lunar Republic I created a group called the Guardians of Harmony. I saw the whole this as needing to make a choice and I was like "Heck no, I pick a third option". The Guardians of Harmony work to keep peace in Equestria, working to make sure ponies do not fight among each other whether it is racial tention or conflict of belief. They would see the Solar Empire and Lunar Republic as they really are... falsehoods. Celestia and Luna are not in conflict, Celestia is no tyant and there is no resistance lead by Luna. It is all lies put together by one that wants Equestria to fall apart.

 

Molestia isn't Celestia, at lets not originally. Originally Molestia is a shapechanging succubus that took Celestia's form.

 

More I need to pick and choose. Actually it also matters the quality of the fanfiction/comic as if it is well written I can at times put aside my misgivings on the subject. For example I am reading a fanition in which OC actually gets together romantically with Luna and have some misgivings with other things... yet I have trouble not liking the fanfiction because it is so well written.
